Your role and responsibilities

ABB's Smart Power facility is a global center of excellence for power conditioning technologies, specializing in the research, development, and manufacturing of advanced solutions. This year, we were proud to be named Exporter of the Year at the ExportNZ ASB Hawke's Bay Export Awards and Excellence in Innovation Award.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to purchase materials according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule, and terms. Each day, you will ensure purchasing activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying new suppliers in cooperation with the relevant category team.

The work model for the role is: onsite

This role is contributing to the Smart Power Business in Napier New Zealand. Main stakeholders are Vendors, Operations, R&D and intra company contacts across a global footprint.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Initiating Purchase Orders in the system, according to the purchase requisitions and in alignment with standard procedures, and confirming delivery with suppliers, monitoring, and tracking supplier performance to PO requirements.
• Negotiating agreements with main suppliers, and periodically renews price lists and terms and conditions.
• Recommending frame agreements to management and executing upon approval.
• Analyzing and evaluating bids to determine the optimal value.

Qualifications for the role

• A degree or 2-3 years of experience in a similar field will be highly regarded
• You thrive in a technology-led environment and enjoy shaping supply chains in emerging markets
• You bring experience with SAP or show strong aptitude to learn ordering systems and procurement processes
• You're ready to bring your best self and grow with a high-performing, forward-thinking organisation
• You're confident and comfortable communicating in English across teams and stakeholders
• Occasional travel may be part of your journey with us
