Role Overview

We are seeking a Lead Planning Engineer to oversee project planning and scheduling activities for a major power project. The role will provide leadership to planning teams across multiple sites, ensuring robust project controls, accurate reporting, and alignment with project objectives.

Location: Newcastle (Hybrid)
Contract Type: Contractor (Outside IR35)  

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the master project schedule, covering all phases of the Project.
• Coordinate planning input from engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.
• Ensure project plans reflect key milestones for converter stations, interconnectors, and electrical infrastructure.
• Monitor critical path, progress, and productivity, identifying risks and recommending corrective actions.
• Lead a small team of planners, providing guidance, mentoring, and quality assurance.
• Interface with client and stakeholders on schedule performance and reporting.
• Work effectively within a joint venture/consortium environment, aligning planning deliverables with partner organisations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Engineering or related field (preferred).
• 10+ years’ experience in project planning / controls within large infrastructure or power projects.
• Strong knowledge of Electrical system, converter stations, substations, and transmission & distribution systems.
• Experience working on projects delivered by joint ventures or consortia.
• Proficient in Primavera P6/Power BI
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
