The City of Seabrook is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Belt Press Operator to join our Utilities team. Under the supervision of the Chief Wastewater Operator and Utilities Supervisor, this position is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining the Belt Press system at the City's Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Belt Press Operator plays a critical role in keeping our wastewater treatment systems functioning safely and efficiently, helping protect public health and the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the City's Belt Press equipment, adjusting as needed based on conditions.
- Monitor polymer systems, pumps, mixers, feeders, conveyors, bearings, rollers, and gear boxes.
- Collect wastewater liquid and cake samples for routine testing.
- Maintain detailed daily logs and accurate records of operations.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment to reduce downtime.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and add required chemicals (e.g., polymers, cleaning solutions).
- Clean and maintain equipment, work areas, and plant grounds.
- Assist with other plant operations and maintenance duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
- Two (2) years of experience in municipal wastewater treatment operations or belt filter press operations.
- Proficiency with SCADA systems for monitoring and controlling treatment facility processes.
Preferred:
- Class "C" Wastewater Operator certification issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
- Experience with chain and belt-driven equipment in an industrial setting.
- Working knowledge of state and federal wastewater treatment regulations (TCEQ/EPA).
- Ability to safely operate power and hand tools, read meters, and perform basic maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite for data entry and reporting.
- Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining compliance with environmental regulations.
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, often in noisy, dusty, or wet conditions.
- Exposure to raw sewage, chemicals, moving machinery, and inclement weather.
- Requires frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting/pushing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
