POSITION OVERVIEW

This position resides within a multi-discipline Project Management Team (PMT) that provides general Engineering and Construction oversight support during the Front End Engineering & Design (FEED) and EPC phases of natural gas liquefaction/Client project(s) and pipeline infrastructure project(s). The individual is technically competent in a wide range of topics related to electrical power system project development and operation.

KNOWLEDGE AND PROFICIENCY

Candidate possesses strong familiarity with standard industry electrical designs and practices in a relevant industrial manufacturing application. Familiarity with Client processes and industry is a plus.

Candidate will have experience with specifying and protecting various size electric motors, variable frequency drives, indoor/outdoor electrical substations, power transformers, cable systems, UPS, etc. Experience with external utility interconnection design and standard practices. Proficiency with equipment specification development, electric power distribution, power system studies inclusive of equipment protection and coordination, area classification, as well as plant-wide power management and control systems.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, documenting, implementing, and testing electrical design. This includes experience with standard project stage gate processes, design assurance, EPC/Contractor oversight, and supporting technical design development and implementation from Owner/Operator viewpoint. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a combination of operational and design experience for large Client or petrochemical industrial facilities.

Candidate will have a working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), applicable standards (NFPA, API, IEEE, etc), and best industry practices, as well as their implementation and compliance within operating facilities. Expertise in analyzing designs for improvement and developing common and/or Client solutions to electrical design or operational issues. Working knowledge and skill with power system analysis program(s)

RESPONSIBLITIES

1. Reviews and evaluates proposed Client project electrical design concepts, including electric motor-driven Client refrigeration compressor design and combined-cycle power plant configurations.

2. Reviews and comments on Electrical Design documentation such as Basis of Design (BOD), Design Criteria, and Design Philosophy, in addition to all relevant project specifications.

3. Examines EPC contractor electrical design and coordinates as needed to meet all other engineering disciplines' requirements. Reviews and provides expert input on Power Systems Studies, Electrical Load List, Single Line diagrams, Equipment Datasheets, Plan drawings, Supplier documentation, etc.

4. Provides engineering design recommendations and monitors the EPC contractor and subcontractors for adherence to all applicable North America design codes, standards, regulations, and guides, such as OSHA, NEC, NFPA, ANSI, NEMA, IEEE, API, and UL.

5. Provides Electrical Engineering expertise for the design, specification, and functionality of all electrical systems, and related equipment and processes.

6. Responds to reports and requests for information such as Technical Queries and formal RFIs.

7. Participates in Hazard Analysis teams including E-HAZOP (Electrical HAZOP), HAZOP as required, and provides technical support to other risk assessments, design reviews, and constructability reviews.

8. Assesses and verifies the integrity of electrical systems during Installation, Commissioning, and Startup, in order to maximize system reliability and availability, by carrying out inspections and construction support as necessary.

9. Provides technical review of proposed changes to support the change order approval process

10. Review and verify final design documents are ready for project turnover.

11. Evaluates the installation of Vendor Packages against meeting compliance requirements and monitors equipment performance during commissioning and startup.

12. Supports training of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) personnel in any new or Client technologies implemented by the project and coordinates with O&M, EPC contractor, and responsible OEMS, Vendors, or Suppliers, accordingly.

13. Manages 3rd Party contractors assigned for design assurance

14. Willingness to travel to site as business requirements dictate.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS)

1. Education and Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university. A Professional Engineer (PE) License in good standing is preferred.

2. Experience: Minimum of twelve (12) overall years in Electrical Engineering, preferably with EPC oversight experience. 10+ years' experience in electrical engineering project design or operations. Recent experience with Client is preferred, however, relevant refining or petrochemical industry experience is acceptable

3. Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status

4. Skills:

a) Strong leadership and administrative abilities are required.

b) An acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment, particularly electrical hazards including arc-flash.

c) Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

d) Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines, industries, and governmental agencies.

e) Organized and able to manage multiple activities and programs timely and with a high degree of accuracy.

f) Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills.

g) Computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Proficiency with ETAP software a plus.

FREEDOM TO ACT

The selected electrical engineer is an expert in his/her technical field and requires minimal supervision.

WORK CONDITIONS
• Job is performed in a typical office environment.
• Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.
• Frequently required to travel, as business conditions dictate.
• Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations.
