Job Summary
The Plant Supervisor is responsible for supporting the operation and maintenance of Luminant Power Generating Stations. The position may require some travel in the support of other Luminant Power Generating Stations.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities
  • Provides controls expertise to assist with operations, maintenance, and repair of the plant.
  • Oversee troubleshooting, calibration, configuration and installation of Mark VI and Foxboro controls systems.
  • Identify and resolve system issues related to hardware, software, and control loops to minimize downtime.
  • Provides supervision and direction to power plant electricians, instrument and controls technicians, and P&C personnel.
  • Responsible for controls, instrumentation, and electronic project implementation and development. Including long range planning and development of Capital projects.
  • Responsible for planning and scheduling all work within the technical department. This includes daily maintenance activities and outage activities for electricians and instrumentation technicians.
  • Must be able to utilize Maximo to order materials and plan Work Orders for their group.
  • Will be assigned to work a normal day shift schedule but will be on call and expect to cover the plant on a 7-day, 24-hour basis.
  • It is expected that the Controls Specialist/Technical Supervisor will assist all areas of the plan when the need arises. This includes but is not limited to the operations department as well as the mechanical department.
  • Ensure and monitor safety and environmental compliance, regulatory compliance, administrative and procedural compliance, and documentation
  • Interface frequently with outside vendors and contractors

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
  • Must have 6+ years' hands-on experience working within Foxboro and Mark VI controls systems, ideally within a power generation or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of control systems, PLCs, and SCADA systems. Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting Mark VI and Foxboro hardware and software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to some of the skills listed
  • 5-7 years of power generation plant experience
  • Experience in Maximo for planning work, creating purchase requests, and creating job plans is preferred.
  • Experience with operations and maintenance at a power plant particularly control operator experience on a unit with a drum boiler is preferred
  • Power generation plant supervision, leadership, communication, problem solving and decision making skills preferred
  • Good computer skills using Word, Excel, and Outlook

Additional Requirement
  • Must be willing to relocate to within 50 miles of the plant site
  • Must be willing to keep the companies core goals as a priority. These are: (1. Safety is our top priority. 2. Environmental/Regulatory Compliance, 3. Operations/Unit Performance, 4. Budget - Create ownership at a plant level to help control spend and stay on track with regard to budget)
