Qualifications:
College hours, high school diploma or GED
Texas Driver's License
Minimum 3 years' experience in commercial HVAC and building automation systems
Knowledge and skill required to operate and repair all equipment associated with HVAC and low temperature refrigeration maintenance
EPA certification I and II (Universal certification preferred)
Texas State Contractors License Type B or ability to obtain within six months of hire date
Physically able to lift 50 pounds
Ability to comprehend written and verbal English
Primary Purpose:
Maintain district wide HVAC and low temperature refrigeration equipment in order to provide a quality building environment for students, staff, and community.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Equipment Used:
Computer, meters, gages, welding equipment, ladders, hoists, hand and power tools, pipe bender, propane torch light truck or van.
Working Conditions:
Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent district wide travel. Work alone; irregular and prolonged hours.

Primary Purpose:
Maintain district wide HVAC and low temperature refrigeration equipment in order to provide a quality building environment for students, staff, and community.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Four Day Work Week (including weekends) with 10-hour shifts.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of HVAC, Building Automation Systems and refrigeration equipment.
- Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all HVAC equipment, Building Automation Systems and refrigeration equipment.
- Perform repairs and/or new installation as requested on approved work order.
- Recommend when refrigeration assistance should be obtained from outside source.
- Maintain an inventory of supplies and district-owned tools, equipment and materials including maintaining coolant dispensing records.
- Respond to emergency calls and make repairs as necessary throughout duration of work shift.
- Receive and complete work orders; maintain accurate records on material and labor used to complete work orders.
- Plan out work daily and perform work independently as needed with minimal supervision.
- Supports troubleshooting and resolution of inconsistencies in the functions or sequence of operations with the Building Automation System. Report problems to HVAC Supervisor and Building Automation Systems Coordinator.
- Assist the Building Automation Coordinator with night and weekend audits to systems operating outside of parameters to maintain the most cost-effective use of HVAC energy.
- Recommend supplies and equipment for purchase.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Correct unsafe work conditions and safety hazards in a building and promptly report to supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with campus staff, administration and other departments daily.
