This position will be filled at the Nuclear Operations Professional 1 or 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

Come join the Nuclear Materials and TRU Waste Shipping (NPI-7) group! NPI-7 is accepting applications for a Nuclear Operations Professional to help us meet our mission. NPI-7 supports the TA-55 programmatic mission to ensure safe, efficient and compliant shipping of all fissile, radioactive and hazardous materials generated/stored at the TA-55 Plutonium Facility, the Chemistry and Metallurgy Research (CMR) building, the TA-50 Radioactive Liquid Waste Treatment Facility (RLWTF), and the Radiological Laboratory Utility Office Building (RLUOB), Radioassay and Nondestructive Testing (RANT) and the Transuranic Waste Facility (TWF).

Nuclear Operations Professional 1 ($78,700-$125,100)

The Nuclear Operations Professional 1 (NOP 1) will work under supervisory direction and contribute to resolutions to various routine operational scope problems, assist in training and evaluation for personnel on systems and equipment at nuclear facilities, as well as contribute with the fulfillment of projectized operational scope, supporting projects in nuclear facilities. In addition, the NOP may be asked to assist in investigations, training, audits, assessments, projects, reporting, and tracking of nuclear material operational components and assist with nuclear facility Readiness Reviews.

Nuclear Operations Professional 2 ($94,500-$154,600)

In addition to the above, the Nuclear Operations Professional 2 (NOP 2) will be responsible for providing support in multiple areas, ensuring safe and compliant facility operations. Developing, executing, and maintaining functional knowledge of relevant federal, state and local regulations will be a key component of this position. The selected candidate will also document and provide interpretation of information, technical advice, and critical functions for the core operations within the specified facilities. This all shall be done without considerable direction; will interface with NPI-7 and Division Office Management periodically.

Additional Job Requirements for Nuclear Operations Professional 2:

In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualifications at the higher level require:

Project Management:

Working knowledge and experience in work breakdown structures, work packages, budget, procurement, and technical baselines; and preparing baseline reports and change control documentation.

Leadership:

Demonstrated record of successfully supporting or leading cross-organization teams to ensure complex technologies or products are delivered within budget and on schedule.

Education/Experience for NOP 1 level:

Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 2 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Education/Experience for NOP 2 level:

Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

DOE Order 426.2A: Requires High School Diploma.

Desired Qualifications:

• Active Q clearance

• Knowledge of and/or experience performing programmatic operations at TA-55/CMR/RLOUB.

• Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Project.

• Program Management coursework

• Knowledge of and/or experience with hazardous material shipping/hazardous waste process.

• Applicable regulatory compliance experience related to radioactive material and TRU waste.

• Red Network experience

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.

426.2: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
