The Plutonium Capability Low Level Waste and Waste Characterization, Reduction, and Repackaging Facility (WCRRF) Waste Operations (NPI-10) working group is looking for highly motivated, customer service focused, and highly experienced individual(s) to serve as Nuclear & Hazardous Materials Technicians to join the TA55 LLW, CMR, RLUOB, RLW or WCRRF Operations team(s). The NPI-10 Group oversees and supports low level waste (LLW), mixed low-level waste (MLLW), and hazardous waste packaging and staging operations in Plutonium Facility 4 (PF4), Chemical and Metallurgical Research (CMR), and Radiological Laboratory/Utility/Office Building (RLUOB), Waste Characterization, Reduction, and Repackaging Facility (WCRRF), and the Radioactive Liquid Waste (RLW) facility.

Nuclear & Hazardous Materials Tec 3 ($64,700 - $101,400)
As a Nuclear & Hazardous Materials Technician 3 with NPI-10 you will work directly with all levels of staff to manage low-level, mixed low level waste, and hazardous waste packaging and staging operations throughout NPI-10 facilities. Specific job duties include but are not limited to: handle, lift, downsize and document hazardous and radioactive waste exhibiting chemical and radiological hazards in accordance with written work instruction; package and handle fissile material to include but not limited to; operate mechanical lifting equipment to include electric and diesel powered/electric forklifts; perform upkeep and maintenance of records reflecting storage area, inventory and inspections, waste profiles, disposal requests, shipping paperwork, and waste characterization information; foster a mutually respectful work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment; and follow established procedures for routine work.
Nuclear & Hazardous Materials Tec 4 ($71,200 - $112,900)
In addition to what is outlined at the lower level, the selected candidate will primarily support activities such as, operate mechanical lifting equipment to include electric and diesel powered forklifts, manage RCRA waste storage areas which involves knowledge of chemical storage, segregation, and handling requirements, contribute to Integrated Work Documents, Detailed Operating Procedures, or other work planning documents.

Regulation: Demonstrated experience and knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations relating to the handling of low level waste, mixed low level waste, and hazardous materials. Demonstrated skill in understanding work hazards, safety practices, operating configurations, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.
Communication: Demonstrated experience following detailed procedures effectively, both orally and in writing, and demonstrated experience in aiding in the preparation of reports.
Skills/Expertise: Demonstrated experience operating mechanical equipment such as forklifts or other types of mechanical lifting devices. Ability to work with radioactive or other hazardous materials as dictated by programmatic needs. Demonstrated experience with nuclear facility personal protective equipment (PPE) such as anti-contamination clothing, booties, a variety of safety gloves, and be able to obtain full-face respirator qualification.
Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a conscientious, professional, and responsible manner in a multi-disciplinary environment, and interacting effectively with a variety of organizations.
Clearance and Mandatory Certifications: Ability to obtain and maintain Q-clearance and Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification.

Leadership: Mentors technicians, provides technical coordination, and functional and operational direction as needed.
Regulations/Compliance: Advanced knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations relating to the handling of solid, liquid, hazardous, radioactive, and/or mixed wastes; advanced understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configurations, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures; and the advanced ability to understand inspection and/or characterization data on waste containers.
Policy/Procedures: Advanced knowledge of the Laboratory's waste handling policies, practices, and procedures; demonstrated experience managing RCRA waste storage areas including knowledge of chemical storage, segregation, and handling requirements; advanced knowledge and experience with lock out tag out policies and procedures; and the ability to aide in the preparation of waste handling reports.

Experience with nuclear criticality safety, material control and accountability, radiological protection, safety basis compliance, waste minimization, and waste management.
Skills/Expertise: Working knowledge of Low Level Waste or other regulated waste packaging requirements and downsizing. Successful experience with accounting/management systems such as WCATS and LANMAS.
Training/Certifications: RAD WORKER, HAZWOPER, RCRA certification and the ability to obtain certification as a forklift operator. Site specific training at WCRRF, RLUOB, PF-4, CMR, and RLW.
Desired skills for Nuclear and Hazardous Materials Tec 4:
Experience: At this level a minimum of 2 years previous experience gained through training in a specific field of hazardous material or waste management would be expected.
Skills/Expertise: Experience and participation in audits of material and/or management activities to include undergoing assessments for bringing up/re-start of new or existing capabilities at Nuclear Hazardous Category II/III facilities. The ability to obtain and maintain certification as a forklift and incidental crane operator.
Regulations: Knowledge of DOE O 315 Conduct of Operations. Demonstrated experience managing RCRA waste storage areas including knowledge of chemical storage, segregation, and handling requirements.
