"Solar Fleet Manager" Role Overview:
As the Fleet Manager at Our World Energy, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the company's vehicle fleet, from acquisition and maintenance to compliance and safety. You will ensure vehicles are properly maintained, cost-efficient, and meet all regulatory requirements while supporting field operations and project timelines. This role requires strong organizational, vendor management, and problem-solving skills to minimize downtime and maximize the effectiveness of our crews in the field.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee fleet operations including acquisition, registration, licensing, and insurance.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize vehicle downtime.
- Track and manage fleet budgets, expenses, and fuel usage.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and other state/federal vehicle regulations.
- Manage vendor relationships with leasing companies, mechanics, and fuel providers.
- Monitor GPS/telematics systems to optimize fleet efficiency and safety.
- Support field teams with vehicle assignments, scheduling, and emergency repairs.
- Provide regular reporting on fleet utilization, costs, and performance metrics.
Required Qualifications:
Education Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in fleet management, logistics, or transportation operations.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, safety, and compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to manage budgets and vendor relationships.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in fleet management software and telematics systems.
Measures of Success (KPI's):
- Maintain fleet uptime of 95%+ to support field operations.
- Reduce maintenance costs by 10%+ annually through preventive maintenance programs.
- Ensure 100% compliance with DOT and state vehicle regulations.
- Achieve less than 2 preventable vehicle incidents per 100,000 miles driven.
