Scope of Position

Specialty Practice Pharmacist (Nuclear Pharmacy) is responsible for staffing the OSUWMC nuclear pharmacy including conducting order verification, preparation and dispensing of radiopharmaceuticals, and ensuring compliance with OSUWMC's department of pharmacy policies, as well as state and federal regulations for the safe handling and security of radioactive and hazardous materials.

Position Summary

Responsibilities include:

Packaging and distribution of medications to all units.-

Ordering supplies and equipment, maintaining proper inventory levels and ensuring medications are not expired and secure.- Keeping appropriate records and documentation, and submitting patient charges/credits.- Serving as a resource and provides answers to drug information questions for patients, family, pharmacist, nurses, physicians, medical students, undergraduate and graduate pharmacy and students and other hospital staff and personnel.- Precepting or training graduate and undergraduate pharmacy students and residents, radiology residents, and nuclear medicine technology students as assigned.- Representing the nuclear pharmacy through presentations to local, state or national associations, societies or community groups.- Providing assurance of appropriate dose, route, frequency & duration of therapy; reviewing patient medication profiles for drug-drug interactions, duplication of therapy, drug allergy interactions & appropriate regimens- Reviewing research protocols and serving as the nuclear pharmacy liaison to the research office and the investigational drug services department.- Ensuring compliance with organizational, state and federal policies, procedures and standards, including USP 797 and USP 825.- Performing other related duties assigned by the nuclear pharmacy manager, radiology or department of pharmacy.
-Provide on-call coverage and work weekend and/or holidays as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy required. Board Certified Nuclear Pharmacist (BCNP) or eligible for Board Certification in nuclear pharmacy (must obtain Board Certification in nuclear pharmacy within 2 years of employment); Authorized User of Radioactive Materials.
