Jacket Engineering Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all engineering activities related to the design, fabrication, and installation of offshore jacket structures (the substructure of fixed offshore platforms). The role ensures that the jacket design meets project specifications, safety standards, and schedule requirements. It involves interfacing with multiple engineering disciplines, fabrication yards, installation contractors, and project stakeholders, below are detailed tasks.

General Description of Role and Responsibilities [ but not limited to ]:

Design Coordination
  • Coordinate the development and review of engineering deliverables for jacket structures including:
  • General Arrangement Drawings.
  • Loadout & Transportation Analyses.
  • Pile Design and Sleeve Details.
  • Lifting and Installation Procedures.
  • Finite Element Analyses (FEA) and Structural Calculations.
  • Ensure that the jacket design complies with international codes (API RP 2A, ISO 19901), company specifications, and project requirements.
  • Lead interdisciplinary coordination between structural, geotechnical, naval, and installation teams.

Interface & Vendor Management
  • Coordinate between jacket design team, topside team, marine operations, and geotechnical specialists.
  • Liaise with fabrication contractors and verify alignment of shop drawings and fabrication methods with design intent.
  • Ensure incorporation of interface loads from topside, risers, conductors, and appurtenances (boat landing, J-tubes, anodes, etc.).

Technical Reviews & Approvals
  • Lead or participate in technical reviews (model reviews, design reviews, HAZID, constructability reviews).
  • Review and approve deliverables such as fabrication drawings, welding procedures, and material specifications.
  • Track technical queries (TQs), deviations, and manage engineering change requests (ECRs).
  • Support to Fabrication & Installation.
  • Provide engineering support to jacket fabrication at the yard, including review of shop drawings and resolution of field issues.
  • Review and comment on installation analysis for lifting, upending, launching, and piling operations.
  • Ensure readiness for load-out, sea fastening, and offshore installation in coordination with marine contractors.

Progress & Quality Monitoring
  • Monitor progress of jacket design and fabrication against project milestones.
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) compliance for structural components.
  • Maintain technical documentation and reporting to project management.

Skills & Competencies:
  • Proficient in structural engineering software (e.g., SACS, STAAD.Pro, SESAM, ANSYS).
  • Strong knowledge of offshore installation methods and jacket construction practices.
  • Familiar with standards and specifications (API, ISO, DNV, ABS).
  • Good understanding of fabrication yard processes, welding, NDT, and material control.
  • Strong project coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Work experience of eight (8) years in the field of sought discipline after earning the BSc degree.
  • Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of offshore experience in total, with at least the last 3–5 years spent on offshore projects.
  • Excellent spoken and written English including proven ability to write specifications and reports.
