This will support the delivery of an enhanced customer experience and drive innovation by building global capabilities, scale, leveraging technology, and developing deep expertise. The BTC will be a core and connected part of our business, bringing together colleagues who report into their respective part of C&P, working together with other functions across bp. As Data and Insight Lead, you will join the Retail Programme, Data and Insight Team and will lead a high-performing team of analysts dedicated to supporting bp's UK Retail Operations. Key Stakeholders will be:
Retail Operations leadership and frontline managers
UK Retail functional teams (HSSE, Assets, Convenience, Marketing), bp enabling functions (Technology, P&C), External partner and technology vendors.

Let me tell you about the role
- An inspiring leader who can build strong teams, communicate a clear vision and drive results through collaboration, accountability and effective decision making
- Own and evolve the retail operations data strategy, ensuring robust performance reporting and data-driven decision making that enhances efficiency, compliance and customer experience
- Develop, analyse and interpret retail data, insights and trends to support and challenge the UK retail operations team, minimising risk, maximising performance and delivering the overall strategy
- Lead a small specialist data & insights team, providing expertise and recommendations across core operational pillars and KPIs: safe and efficient operations, people, customer and commercial
- Support consistent operational delivery as the business navigates ongoing change and growth
What you will deliver
- Lead, coach and mentor team members to achieve individual and organisational goals
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with customers at all levels, building trust and engagement to tailor and deliver data and insights that drive business performance
- Influence outcomes through clear messaging, strong presence and data-driven insights
- Take ownership of team performance, KPIs and project outcomes, ensuring all recommendations are truly customer led, with a keen bias towards our strategic priorities
- Champion innovation and encourage a culture of continuous improvement
- Own the reporting and insights roadmap, ensuring alignment with business priorities and bp's data strategy. Champion data-driven decision-making and challenge the status quo to drive innovation
- Design and deliver scalable reporting frameworks and clear KPIs for retail operations
- Translate complex operational data into actionable insights for senior leaders, central / field operational teams and stores, highlighting risks and opportunities
- Build deep capability and drive continuous improvement across tools, reports and systems, including developing and owning platforms that increase efficiency and performance
- Complete store and field visits as required to ensure understanding and context of how work happens
- Be available to lead and support emergency / critical situations as required and undertake any other reasonable duties as required
What you will need to be successful
Education:
- Degree or equivalent experience preferable
Experience and Job Requirements
- Experience working within an operations data-led role within a fast-paced retail / FMCG business
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and inspire others to deliver outstanding performance
- Excellent communication and influencing skills with a proven ability to collaborate with customers across multiple levels. E.g. Senior leaders, peers, store colleagues
- Strong technical expertise in Power BI (data modelling, DAX, dashboard design), Excel (advanced functionality, Power Query), and familiarity with SQL or similar query tools
- Strong understanding of data governance, quality, lineage, master data and standardisation and demonstrated ability to 'connect the dots' to align with bigger picture thinking
- Ability to balance critical thinking with pragmatic problem-solving and proactive/reactive leadership
- Ability to remain highly motivated whilst managing pressures associated with a high intensity role
- Highly organised with a strong bias towards effective planning and prioritising
- Accomplished attention to detail, and comfortable in handling and interpreting large amounts of data
- Ability to effectively turn data and trends into meaningful insight that end-users can understand and action
- Highly numerate with a desire to embrace and seek out new technology / ways of working
- Self-motivated and performance driven with a passion for excellence and continuous improvement
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of our industry. E.g. Roadside retail
- Experience leading a retail store and working in field and / or central operations support role
- Understanding of data governance frameworks and regulatory compliance (GDPR)
- Experience in cross-functional programmes, especially those involving digital transformation or automation
