The Planning Supervisor is responsible for developing and managing the Master Production Schedule (MPS). This role ensures alignment between customer demand, manufacturing capacity, and material availability, while driving schedule accuracy, efficiency, and on-time delivery. You will serve as the central link between Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Project Management, ensuring our production schedule supports both customer commitments and long-term business goals.

The Planning Supervisor is responsible for developing and managing the Master Production Schedule (MPS). This role ensures alignment between customer demand, manufacturing capacity, and material availability, while driving schedule accuracy, efficiency, and on-time delivery. You will serve as the central link between Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Project Management, ensuring our production schedule supports both customer commitments and long-term business goals.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and manage the Master Production Schedule (MPS) in the ERP system using Demand Driven Operating Model (DDOM) principles to align demand, capacity, and material availability.
- Translate forecasts and sales orders into executable production plans; monitor WIP and ensure schedule adherence.
- Conduct capacity analysis and coordinate with cross-functional teams (Production, Maintenance, Engineering) to resolve constraints and maintain flow.
- Align production schedules with S&OP and support risk mitigation strategies
- Utilize ERP and planning tools (e.g., Intuiflow) for scheduling, reporting, and scenario planning.
- Oversee routing, work order release, WIP tracking, and planning for make/buy items.
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of Production Planners, including training, coaching, and performance management.
- Analyze and improve KPIs such as forecast accuracy, schedule adherence, lead-time, and on-time delivery.
- Support costing and quoting activities; identify sourcing or capacity adjustments as needed.
- Promote a team-oriented culture focused on accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure smooth order flow and collaboration between Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management, and Production.
- Represent NOV professionally in all communications and external interactions.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field, or 5 years of relevant experience in project management, production control, planning, purchasing or manufacturing.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience is required.
- A firm understanding of blueprints, machining, fabrication, and raw materials is preferable.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required (Excel, Teams, Word).
- A deep understanding of ERP/MRP planning system operation and function. (Oracle ERP knowledge a plus.)
- APICS CPIM or PMP certification is a plus.
