Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a talented and experienced Solar Array Manufacturing Engineer to support the development, fabrication, and production of photovoltaic (PV) solar arrays tailored for satellite and aerospace platforms. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on proficiency with Hesse ultrasonic wire bonding systems and Amada resistance welders, along with a deep understanding of solar cell interconnect assembly, quality assurance, and process refinement within a cleanroom setting.
This role is fully onsite out of Midland, TX, and is offering a generous relocation package.

Responsibilities of the Solar Array Manufacturing Engineer:
- Develop and refine manufacturing processes for solar array production, including tabbing, stringing, interconnects, and panel assembly.
- Operate and maintain Hesse ultrasonic bonders and Amada resistance welders for precision bonding and structural attachment.
- Translate engineering designs into efficient production workflows; create documentation, work instructions, and inspection criteria.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing issues; define equipment needs and ensure calibration.
- Train technicians on solar cell handling, bonding/welding techniques, and ESD safety; promote continuous improvement and defect reduction.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace manufacturing standards (NASA, ESA, IPC) and cleanroom protocols.
Qualifications for the Solar Array Manufacturing Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in solar array production, wire bonding, or microelectronics assembly.
- Demonstrated expertise with Hesse ultrasonic bonding and Amada resistance welding systems.
- Solid knowledge of photovoltaic cell assembly, interconnect architecture, and handling of space-grade components.
- Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing standards (ECSS, NASA, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001).
- Experience working in cleanroom environments with strong ESD control and precision assembly skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, documentation skills, and a focus on process improvement.
- Strong team collaboration skills in a high-reliability production setting.
Compensation and Benefits:
- $85,000 - 95,000+ *Dependent on experience*
