The Trading Analytics Analyst is responsible for building and maintaining models to support trading decisions, portfolio originations, and to help identify trading opportunities. Working alongside the trade desks and fundamental analysts, this role will leverage knowledge of analytics, programming, and visualization tools to develop models to analyze markets, optimize ConocoPhillips portfolio, and generate tradable insights.

Job Summary
The Trading Analytics Analyst is responsible for building and maintaining models to support trading decisions, portfolio originations, and to help identify trading opportunities. Working alongside the trade desks and fundamental analysts, this role will leverage knowledge of analytics, programming, and visualization tools to develop models to analyze markets, optimize ConocoPhillips portfolio, and generate tradable insights.
Position Overview
Your responsibilities may include:
- Leverage advanced trading platforms, data analytics tools, and financial models to support analysis and decision-making
- Design, formulate, and validate mathematical models (linear, non-linear optimization) to optimize scheduling, logistics, etc
- Work with large datasets, applying advanced statistical methods to derive actionable insights that inform trading strategies and risk management
- Utilize data analytics techniques to enhance the predictive capabilities of pricing models
- Create visualization tools / dashboards to provide real-time analysis in concise manner
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and techniques in energy markets to improve the accuracy and efficiency of market analysis
- Collaborate with IT and software development teams to integrate models into trading platforms and risk management systems
- Ensure that models are designed for real-time pricing, risk analysis, and scenario simulations, with smooth integration into the trading workflow
- Work closely with traders to ensure that model outputs are actionable and provide decision-making support in fast-paced trading environments
Basic/Required:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Financial Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, related field, or foreign equivalent
- 3 or more years of experience in analytics, energy trading, market analysis or related fields
- Advanced level of proficiency in programming skills in Python, C++, r, or similar languages used for model development
Preferred:
- Expert level of proficiency in using financial libraries (e.g., FEA, QuantLib) and platforms for model development and back-testing
- Intermediate level of proficiency in databases (SQL) and large datasets, as well as data analysis tools like Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy
- Intermediate level of proficiency with visualization tools (PowerBI, Spotfire, etc...)
- Beginner level of proficiency with cloud computing and high-performance computing techniques is a plus
- Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what's right

- Delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
