Job Description Summary

GE Aerospace's Tubes & Ducts organization specializes in the manufacturing of external hardware for aircraft engines, including air and fuel systems. With expertise in metal fabrication, machining, and Non-Destructive Testing, the organization is focused on preparing for new programs and product introductions.
NPI producibility leader drive manufacturability, influence design, and collaborate across teams to deliver groundbreaking products that shape the future of flight, in the framework of 0 defect culture and transition to automation.
The NPI Producibility Leader will be responsible for evaluating the manufacturability of new products, ensuring readiness for delivering test parts and first production batches. This role requires technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to support the successful introduction of new products and programs.

This position does require up to 15% travel

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with Integrated Design & Build teams to evaluate NPI hardware and technologies, assessing should cost and feasibility within the manufacturing environment, considering the growing maturity of automated fabrication, and the 0 defect culture deployment.
  • Apply structured problem-solving methods, PFMEA, Measurement System Analysis, Production Preparation Plan, to support producibility assessment in the framework of Zero Defect culture and the automation strategy of fabrication and inspection processes.
  • Define production requirements to consider automation and automatic inspection needs
  • Organize and chair producibility reviews in the scope of activity.
  • Partner with Technology Transition leader to define the modeling and tests necessary to ensure manufacturing readiness of first production batches
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure readiness for delivering test parts and first production batches.
  • Approve DSR/Class-1 and Class 2 Change in Design.
  • Determine part costing for GE Aerospace NPI in partnership with the sites.
  • Support sites and strategy teams in feasibility, maturity and risk assessments for strategic programs.
  • Lead the deployment of Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA) methods for NPI and new programs, especially for future production processes.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years Manufacturing Engineering experience + minimum of 5 years Manufacturing Engineering experience


Required Competencies
  • Technical Core:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Process knowledge - machining, fabrication, additive, assembly, tolerance analysis (GD&T).
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM) expertise - able to partner with design engineers early.
  • Strong problem-solving - turning vague design issues into clear, manufacturable solutions.
  • Data-driven decision-making - root cause, yield analysis, cost/benefit tradeoffs.
  • Collaboration / Influence:
    • Cross-functional communicator - able to challenge design teams constructively.
    • Stakeholder influence - balances design intent, cost, schedule, and producibility.
    • Ownership mindset - takes accountability for manufacturability outcomes.
  • Personal Drivers:
