We are seeking an experienced Data Pipeline Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of BlackSea's next-generation data pipeline architecture. This role is central to enabling bi-directional data flows between our Unmanned Maritime Vehicles (UMVs) and a secure, cloud-based environment supporting:
- Exfiltration of mission and platform data from deployed systems
- Configuration management for UMV fleets
- Scalable software deployment across platforms

You will leverage AWS GovCloud as the foundation while deploying AWS Greengrass and similar technologies to manage edge-to-cloud integration. You'll also evaluate and apply other IoT and orchestration frameworks to optimize performance, security, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities:
Data Pipeline Development & Integration
- Lead the architecture, implementation, and optimization of secure data pipelines enabling data exfiltration, fleet configuration, and software deployment at scale.
- Integrate e- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years designing and deploying secure data pipelines for distributed or autonomous systems.
- Expertise with AWS GovCloud and its associated services (EC2, S3, IoT Core, Lambda, API Gateway, etc.).
- Hands-on experience deploying AWS Greengrass or similar IoT and edge orchestration frameworks (Azure IoT Edge, Google IoT Core, K3s, KubeEdge).
- Proficiency with LAN/WAN network administration and secure networking practices.
- Familiarity with containerized workloads and orchestration frameworks (Docker, Kubernetes, K3s, KubeEdge).
- Experience implementing edge messaging protocols like DDS, MQTT, and gRPC.
- Solid understanding of DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for secure deployments.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards including RMF, FedRAMP, STIGs, and NIST.
- Proven experience architecting secure communication and data handling pipelines.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Comfortable collaborating in cross-functional, mission-driven teams.

- Implement and optimize edge computing strategies, ensuring high availability and efficient bandwidth usage.
- Develop monitoring and diagnostic tools to maintain pipeline performance across edge, network, and cloud environments.

Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Design and implement secure architectures that comply with DoD cybersecurity requirements (e.g., RMF, FedRAMP, NIST, STIGs).
- Integrate end-to-end encryption, identity and access management, and data governance controls into pipeline workflows.
- Ensure all pipeline solutions meet operational security standards for classified and sensitive data environments.

Collaboration & DevSecOps
- Partner with autonomy engineers, systems integrators, and test specialists to deliver mission-ready connectivity solutions.
- Contribute to DevSecOps pipelines enabling automated testing, deployment, and scaling of edge and cloud workloads.
- Support operational deployments, including on-site testing, troubleshooting, and rapid problem resolution.

Requirements
