Responsibilities
- You will serve as the Board Executive to direct, plan and manage program activities of the Contractor's Licensing Board, the Board of Pyrotechnic Safety, the LP Gas Board and Boiler Safety Program.
- You will oversee the administration and operation of the program area, including the initial and renewal application and licensure process.
- You will oversee the program's financial management practices and monitor revenues and expenses.
- You will organize and attend Board and other meetings and take appropriate follow-up actions on directives and recommendations, including with the issuance of cease-and-desist orders.
- You will oversee and supervise staff that perform the program's daily operations, including assessing staff needs and training.
- You will conduct research and provide information regarding statutes and regulations, including representing the program area in legislative matters before the General Assembly.
- You will review and monitor websites to maintain accurate and up-to-date program information.
- You will respond to questions and concerns from licensees, members of the legislature, and the public.
- You will perform other duties such as serving as a liaison with professional organizations, monitoring legislation affecting the program, and assisting in the development of strategic plans.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree and at least three years of relevant program experience.
- Extensive knowledge of the practices, principles and theories of management.
- Ability to supervise professional, technical and clerical employees.
- Knowledge of principles, policies and practices of office management, of relevant laws, regulations, policies, processes and organizational functions.
- Ability to work effectively with staff, applicants, licensees and the public in disseminating and obtaining information.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Extensive knowledge of grammatical rules, spelling, language usage, and business formats.
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying policies/procedures with licensees to include non-routine situations.
- Ability to problem-solve, train and supervise licensing staff. Computer database, word processing and spreadsheet skills necessary.
- Strong customer service skills.
Other Requirements
- Position works in an office environment with extended periods of sitting and standing.
- Occasional work outside of normal Agency hours.
- May be required to lift, carry, move and/or position objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
- May require kneeling for extended periods of time.
- Occasional overnight travel to state and national meetings.
- Daily filing, data entry, telephone and computer use.
