From its design to its production and use, every drug has an environmental impact: on the climate and air quality, biodiversity, and resources such as water and soil. The pharmaceutical sector is collectively mobilizing around solutions to reduce these impacts [1]. In this rapidly changing context, Technip Energies is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of new production units.
As part of a study project for a new biopharmaceutical production unit, the internship assignment consists of making proposals to reduce water consumption during the design phase.
More specifically, the internship, which will last approximately six months, will proceed as follows:
- Integration, understanding the context, and preparing the roadmap
- Core of the internship
The intern will be asked to propose (and quantify if the duration of the internship allows) solutions to reduce the water consumed for production and distribution.
Starting Date: between February and April 2026
Duration : 6 months

• Have a solid background in process engineering. They must have a broad understanding of industrial and environmental challenges and be interested in the biopharmaceutical field.
• Be comfortable using Excel and VBA.
• Be fluent in English.
• Be curious, rigorous, and have excellent analytical skills.
• Have good oral and written communication skills.
• Be proactive and proactive, able to adapt easily to their work environment, and be a good team player.
Profile: Internship for students with a bachelor's degree (Engineering or Master's): Process Engineering. INSA, ENSIC Nancy, UTC Compiègne, ENSIACET, CPE or equivalent.
During this internship, you will be supported by a mentor who will answer any questions you may have. This internship will be an opportunity for you to develop your skills and knowledge of current issues.

- Bibliographic review (articles and internal studies at Technip Energies):
- Pharmaceutical water: production processes, distribution patterns, quality
- Understanding the main challenges of reducing the impact of pharmaceutical production units on water: main consumption patterns, practices and regulations associated with water recycling. Water consumption indicators in factories.
- Core of the internship
- Prepare a benchmark on the water intensity index of several projects carried out by Technip Energies in recent years in the biopharmaceutical field.
- Develop a calculation note to assess the water intensity index at different stages of a project and compare it to the benchmark.
- Based on a case study that will be provided (part of a protein manufacturing unit) and including
- Pharmaceutical water and clean steam production and distribution units
- Cleaning and sterilization systems in place
- Process equipment: protein purification workshop,
