JOB DESCRIPTION

Be part of the solution at Technip Energies and embark on a one-of-a-kind journey. You will be helping to develop cutting-edge solutions to solve real-world energy problems.

About us:

Technip Energies is a global technology and engineering powerhouse. With leadership position in LNG, hydrogen, ethylene, sustainable chemistry, and CO2 management, we are contributing to the development of critical markets such as energy, energy derivatives, decarbonization, and circularity. Our complementary business segments, Technology, Products and Services (TPS) and Project Delivery, turn innovation into scalable and industrial reality.

Through collaboration and excellence in execution, our 17,000+ employees across 34 countries are fully committed to bridging prosperity with sustainability for a world designed to last.

About the mission we offer you:

Within the Industrial Safety department, you will join the HSE Design team, which is made up of Industrial Safety, Risk Quantification, and Environment & Health engineers, to work on issues related to the prevention, control, and protection against industrial risks on projects developed by Technip Energies (oil, natural gas, petrochemicals, hydrogen, ammonia, mining & metals, pharmaceuticals, renewable energies).

Your main contacts will be the HSE Design team, but also other Technip Energies disciplines such as Instrumentation.

During your internship, you will work on fire and gas detection. The main objective of a detection system is to detect a gas leak or the early stages of a fire as early as possible so that the necessary measures to warn operators and secure the facilities can be activated, thereby limiting the consequences. As a result, fire and gas detection is one of the major components of the prevention measures implemented in facilities designed by Technip Energies to ensure the protection of operators, the environment, and facilities. Optimizing the installation of detectors is also a challenge in terms of managing capital expenditures and operating costs.

Fire and gas mapping studies are used to model and evaluate the effectiveness of detection systems using two approaches: geographical and scenario-based. Several software programs can be used to position detectors and verify their coverage performance. The internship aims to improve the geographical approach, develop the scenario-based approach, and gain a better understanding of these analyses and the associated IT tools.

As an intern, your various tasks will consist of:
  • Understanding the fundamentals of fire and gas detection technologies.
  • Studying the methodologies, assumptions, criteria, and results of past and ongoing fire and gas mapping studies (including evaluating quantitative discrepancies between detectors in the initial phase and the results of fire and gas mapping simulations).
  • Conducting documentary research on work and advances in the field of fire and gas mapping.
  • Become familiar with modeling tools such as Detect3D and in:Flux.
  • Perform simulations and sensitivity analyses.
  • Propose improvements to methodologies and tool usage, as well as optimizations to detection design.
  • Prepare a summary to document conclusions and recommendations.

You will work closely with risk quantification and safety engineering specialists.

These activities will give you an understanding of the role of Industrial Safety Engineer within the HSE Design team at Technip Energies Paris.

During this internship, you will be supported by a mentor who will be available to answer any questions you may have.

Starting Date: February - March 2026

Duration : 6 months
