Contracts Counsel MEA

Job Summary:

In this role, you will provide sales-related Contract Services to all Business Units in the in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) World Area, with minimal levels of supervision.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Reviews, drafts and negotiates agreements and transaction documents in compliance with applicable policies and legal and ethical standards, with minimal supervision by more senior Contract Services staff, including in:
  • Responding, within established guidelines, to customers, vendor qualification documents, and contractual requests.
  • Drafting and negotiating with customers, appropriate contractual language to reflect the business interests and policies of the parties.
• Takes the Contracts Lead role on
  • Less complex international and multi-business project contracts.
  • Less complex frame agreements
• Takes the Contracts Lead role (including the Global Contracts Lead role on accounts) on more complex projects and frames agreements as experience develops.
• Interfaces with customers, members of the legal team and other Emerson stakeholders to bring deals to closure.
• Analyses business, financial, and legal risks.
• Research information on existing agreements and contractual programs, assisting with analysis and compiling data for reports.
• Provides contract-related guidance to Sales, Project Management and other stakeholders.
• Participates in the approval process to assist business owners in making informed decisions and secure appropriate approvals.

For This Role, You Will Need:

• Proven experience in a contract-related role
• Bachelor's Degree in related fields
• Completion of World's Contract and Commercial Management (CCM) Training Program to Practitioner Level strongly preferred
• Experienced negotiation skills
• Extensive knowledge of Contract law & principles
• Commercial provisions such as warranty, liquidated damages/penalties, payment & freight terms, documentary credits and bank guarantees/sureties

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

• Excellent MS Office skills
• Excellent oral and written English language skills, French and/or Arabic are an advantage
