Your role and responsibilities
The ABB Marine&Ports Marine Systems local business line offers a comprehensive portfolio of electrification and automation solutions for marine industry around the world. Our offering delivers high quality and reliability in demanding environments.

As an SCM and Quality Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing, planning, and implementing procurement strategies. Your focus will be on leading a team of professionals, ensuring optimized cost, quality, delivery, and reliability, while ensuring all processes align with company guidelines and supply chain management protocols. This role is based in Vuosaari, Helsinki. You and your team work closely with sales and project units to meet the targets and needs set by our customers and company guidelines. SCM and Quality Manager will be part of the Local Business Line Marine Systems Management team.

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Developing sourcing strategies aligned with business strategy and business needs to ensure supplier capability and capacity
  • Implementing programs to improve cost, quality, and delivery, in accordance with group/business area procurement guidelines and global division/business area objectives
  • Leading a team of SCM and quality professionals, setting their targets, and supporting them in meeting these targets
  • Supporting sales initiatives together with the SCM team to ensure competitive sourcing according to business needs
  • Ensuring Purchasers minimize risks related to quality and financial exposure by purchasing in accordance with quality and commercial procedures and company guidelines.
  • Monitoring the procurement processes and activities, and resolving issues related to procurement cost, quality, and delivery
  • Defining and establishing local standard agreements with major local suppliers
  • Overseeing supplier quality case management by guiding the team in resolving technical issues, ensuring cost recovery in line with agreements, and implementing preventive actions
  • Planning and monitoring the Global Supplier Audit program and organizing Lead Auditor Meetings to ensure alignment and continuous improvement across supplier quality activities
  • Ensuring third-party compliance with ABB regulations, including integrity and sustainability


Qualifications for the role
  • Several years of experience in supply chain management, with a focus on purchasing or sourcing
  • Ability to lead a team and support team members to achieve targets
  • Skilled in supplier negotiations and experienced in stakeholder engagement
  • Effective interpersonal skills, as well as solid sense of personal responsibility, with an engaged, hands-on approach
  • Proven ability to build supplier commitment and define clear requirements for achieving results
  • Result-oriented and innovative approach, emphasizing partnership and collaboration
  • At least Bachelor's degree e.g. in Supply Chain Management or Engineering
  • Valid work permit in Finland
  • Fluency in English
