Supply Accounting Analyst - German speaking
JOB PURPOSE
- Ensure timely and accurate hydrocarbon accounting processes
- To support and prepare documents for period close
- To ensure adherence to policies and procedures
- To work with the S&IA teams to ensure mutual understanding of all accounting entries and follow up on queries.
- This person will work on complex or difficult accounting areas requiring extensive experience to ensure the correct reporting and accounting treatment.
- Resolve queries and issues as they arise with reference to relevant resources such as the Group Reporting Manual, working with the Rhine and S&IA teams or other support from within bp.
- To comply with any other job-related requirements. This may be defined by an attached task list or defined by one's relevant team lead or process lead.
- Provide effective support to system transformations in all phases of the project
- Manage market pricing and benchmarking activities and perform Stock volume report for internally usage of defined BP countries
- Responsible for preparation of various external reports for all terminals - focusing on the defined area and manage federal statistics and customs declarations
- Manage inventory movements and related actualization, reconciliation, logistics activities including month-end closing, rebranding, transfers, gain/loss, etc.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhering with the tasks outlined in the QMS Systems of FBT Europe
- Preparing supply and inventory related movements and invoices
- Controlling the completeness and integrity of supply and inventory accounting processes
- Support preparation of documents and adjustments for monthly, quarterly and year-end close
- Monitoring of open items / overdues and incoming/outgoing payments
- Managing contract changes and ad-hoc hydrocarbon queries
- Continuous communication with stakeholders and following up issues
- Support audits (both internal and external)
- Reconciliation of billed bulk sales with stock/purchased quantities
- Query handling and monitoring
- Strong interactivity with assigned Business Units, customers as well as with Business Facing Financials.
- Run & verify the month end stock accounting processes, ensuring all movements correctly priced & accounted for and all adjustments made
- Produce actual costs and allocations reports
- Review Cost recovery reports and propose adjustments
- Support the analysis financial results of product cost, storage and handling activities
- To comply with any other job-related requirements. This may be defined by an attached task list or defined by one's relevant line manager
- To carry out the month end close processes in a timely and accurate manner for complex or difficult accounting areas requiring extensive experience to ensure the correct reporting and accounting treatment. Resolution of issues and queries may require reference to Group Reporting Manuals and / or working closely with the Business / Country teams supported.
- The Supply Accounting Analyst will look for opportunities to drive process improvements of a notable nature and work with the relevant people to put these in place.
- Carrying out balance sheet assurance and reconciliation work for businesses / countries supported - query resolution will be handled independently based upon previous experience.
- Support the Stats and Tax processes where required working with the Stats and Tax lead accountants to understand the priorities and deliver against these.
- High focus on the data accuracy because of high reputational, financial and compliance risk
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
- Relevant degree and 2 to 3- year experience in related Finance area
- Good knowledge in Finance area (or willingness to learn the basics)
- AR/AP Process experience desirable (MM knowledge is an advantage)
- Fluency in English. Additional German language is necessary.
