The Role
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Senior Project Manager to join our dynamic team. The focus of this role is solely on the design and manufacture of
Nuclear and High-Temperature CCTV systems .
As a Senior Project Manager , you will take full ownership of assigned
customer funded and R+D projects , typically valued between £100,000 and £800,000, leading the integrated project team daily.
You will be responsible for all stages of the
project lifecycle
overseeing projects from the scoping and tender stage through Engineering and production, to installation and commissioning, along with supporting the team with system specification and design.
Your role will involve driving and managing the delivery of these projects, ensuring objectives are clearly defined and achieved within agreed
timeframes, budgets,
and
quality standards , collaborating closely with stakeholders to ensure project outcomes are delivered successfully.
This role is also instrumental in defining, implementing, and continuously improving project
governance
processes. It places a strong emphasis on enhancing reporting efficiency and ensuring robust
project controls
are established and maintained. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing monthly project
revenue recognition
and aligning financial reporting with the corporate financial structure.
This position is based in Farnborough, Hampshire and belongs to the Technologies Group, Europe & Asia, reporting to the Projects and Design Team Manager.
It will be primarily office based. However, the role requires occasional travel to other Mirion and customer sites as required.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Project Manager responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Project Management
Lead programmatic and commercial input into customer requirements, supporting the creation of internal design specifications and tender cost information.
Develop project plans, including Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), work package descriptions, and revenue forecasts.
Manage the full project lifecycle, ensuring delivery within quality, cost, and schedule constraints, and producing all necessary project, design, and production documentation.
Oversee financial reporting and Estimate at Completion (EAC) management, ensuring monthly project revenue aligns with agreed targets.
Act as the primary point of contact for all customer communications related to projects.
Maintain and manage project schedules, clearly communicating any cost or timing impacts internally and to customers.
Proactively manage project risks, developing mitigation strategies and factoring risk exposure into project plans.
Identify key stakeholders, build effective relationships, and maintain regular communication to support risk management, issue escalation, production startup, and customer delivery.
Ensure quality requirements are communicated and embedded within all project deliverables.
Drive continuous improvement by promoting effective individual and team performance and capturing lessons learned.
Project Team Development
Mentor project teams to foster a culture of empowerment, accountability, and skills development, enhancing the company's overall capabilities.
Support the smooth operation and oversight of project management activities, including meeting administrative requirements.
Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards related to quality, safety, and environmental management.
Implement governance structures and controls to strengthen project team performance.
Develop, update, and improve project management processes to enhance departmental efficiency.
The Person
The key skills and qualities of the Senior Project Manager are:
Essential
Demonstratable experience managing cradle to grave customer funded projects
Experience in a similar role within engineering and manufacturing, preferably in a highly regulated industry (e.g. Aerospace, Nuclear, Medical)
Excellent commercial literacy and experience managing project budgets, revenue recognition and financial reporting within a corporate structure
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in maintaining and developing project controls and governance.
Ability to influence and inspire change in positive and impactful way
Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Key programmes - Excel, Project, MS Teams)
Desirable
Professional Project Management qualification such as PMQ/PPQ
Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) standard
Experience in Nuclear and High temperature applications
Technical understanding of CCTV
Experience working in the Nuclear industry
Proven experience in managing departmental revenue recognition and comprehensive program reporting.
