JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:



The Area Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing Completion Tools operations across assigned geographic areas, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable execution of services. This role will manage both field operations and regional business activities, ensuring customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and adherence to company values. The Area Operations Manager will lead teams, optimize resource utilization, build strong client relationships, and drive business growth while maintaining compliance with all applicable policies, regulations, and safety standards.



Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Operations & Field Service
    • Supervise mobilization and execution of field jobs, ensuring quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
    • Travel domestically as needed to support operations.
    • Oversee equipment inventory, shop processes, and fixed asset fleet to ensure readiness, utilization, and proper maintenance.
    • Provide operational insight during design reviews of new equipment to enhance product performance.
  • Leadership & Personnel Management
    • Attract, retain, and develop operations personnel across assigned regions.
    • Provide training, coaching, and mentorship for new and existing staff to ensure high performance, safety, and technical competency.
    • Make personnel decisions including hiring, releasing, and creating new positions in alignment with approved staffing plans.
    • Foster a culture that reflects NOV Completion Tools values.
  • Business Management
    • Develop and manage strategic plans and expense controls to maximize profitability.
    • Ensure compliance with Delegation of Authority for operational expenses, capital expenditures, and procurement.
    • Identify growth opportunities through market analysis and regional assessments; build strong relationships with customers.
    • Collaborate with internal and external resources across sales, operations, engineering, manufacturing, and quality to align strategies.
  • Health, Safety, and Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards across all operations.
    • Promote safe working practices and participate in the development and review of risk management processes.
    • Ensure adherence to corporate policies including Code of Conduct, Anti-Bribery, and Anti-Corruption standards.
  • Communication & Reporting
    • Serve as the communication bridge between regional teams, senior leadership, and global management.
    • Report area challenges, opportunities, and performance metrics to senior leadership.
    • Represent the company professionally with customers, employees, and stakeholders.
    • Own the Profit & Loss (P&L) for the regions of accountability, with full responsibility for maximizing revenue and optimizing costs to drive profitability.


Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business, (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10-15 years' experience in oilfield services, with strong background in completions, liner hangers, or conventional/remedial tools.
  • Proven leadership and team-building experience with ability to manage diverse groups across multiple locations.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and budgeting skills.
  • Certifications such as H2S Training and First Aid/CPR are preferred.


Technical Requirements

  • Extensive technical and practical knowledge of completions operations, downhole tools, and wellsite practices.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, tubing movement, interpreting torque and drag simulations, fluid displacement, and related calculations.
  • Skilled in installation of well construction, unconventional completions and liner systems, as well as interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with shop equipment, processes, and field testing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business reporting tools.

HSE Requirements:

  • Shop environment orientation (exits, fire extinguishers, first aid & eyewash stations, spill kits, propane storage) and yard environment (building locations, processes).
  • Standing, walking, squatting, bending, reaching, and walking (further details to be reviewed on JHA).
  • All applicable Field Service on-site ticket requirement as per HSE Manager and client requirements.
  • Strong safety leadership and a proven record of commitment to fulfilling all safety documentation requirements and duties.
  • PPE training for possible noise exposure, mists/vapors, gloves, safety glasses and steel toed boots.
