Context & Environment

The project has developed a voluntary and ambitious communications strategy critically to preempt messages and tell the story of an exemplary and virtuous development. The core themes of communication for assisting the Project in building its image and reputation include: Mozambican gas will contribute to the global Energy Security, best in class project to reduce CO2 emissions and help southern economies to decarbonate, economically transformative for Mozambique (tax revenues, local content for individuals, domestic gas commitment), an exemplary project in terms of Security, Human Rights respect (resettlement), benefitting the local communities in the site area through unique socio-economic development (Tunaweza, and further the Foundation). Elaborating on these topics through impactful and data driven editorial will be critical for the project's success.

Activities

  • Lead and guarantee the editorial line, content, and publication schedule for all communications related to the Mozambique LNG project.
  • Participate in the conception of key messages and select the most appropriate distribution medium (web, social media, brochures, newsletters, audiovisual, etc.).
  • Ensure the quality and performance of content aligns with the ambitions of Mozambique LNG communications.
  • Investigate and monitor internal project news, gather information, and conduct interviews with leadership, management, operational staff, and external personalities.
  • Prioritize and schedule editorial content, decide on format, angle, and tone, and provide arguments to support editorial choices.
  • Write and/or validate articles, manage validation cycles, and coordinate with internal journalists and external writers/agencies.
  • Oversee the timely publication of news articles and films, and ensure the development and updating of reference content for web and internal platforms.
  • Prepare and publish newsletters, factsheets, and other written materials.
  • Coordinate with the Tools production department for graphical and audiovisual cohesion.
  • Translate or coordinate and quality-check translations into English or Portuguese.
  • Oversee strategy implementation, craft compelling reports, manage data quality, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Work with internal clients to understand needs and develop creative solutions.
  • Develop detailed briefings for service providers and follow up on product execution.
  • Stay updated on best practices, seek professional development, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or media studies, Executive degree preferably in journalism is an added advantage;
  • Minimum of 6 years or more in similar roles, especially in journalism or editorial production, ideally within the oil and gas sector.
  • High-quality writing and accomplished journalistic style with journalistic experience in the oil and gas sector is required.
  • Sound sense of analysis and contextual deduction.
  • Strong ability to develop scope for new ideas and innovation.
  • Good interpersonal and listening skills and a heightened sense of diplomacy.
  • Teamwork and working in close collaboration with other departments.
  • Able to work under pressure and rigorous respect of deadlines.
  • Inquisitive with Excellent level of English.
