Role Overview
The purpose of this position is to deliver civil infrastructure projects with a focus on Buildings Civil Projects and Defence Infrastructure projects. This role will be the lead civil engineer on buildings and defence related projects responsible for the delivery, quality and management of the civil design team on these projects. This role will provide technical expertise, leadership, mentoring and support the civil engineering team and report to the Civil Discipline Manager.

Role Overview

This role will be the lead civil engineer on buildings and defence related projects responsible for the delivery, quality and management of the civil design team on these projects. This role will provide technical expertise, leadership, mentoring and support the civil engineering team and report to the Civil Discipline Manager.
Scope
- Work independently to complete the planning, design and execution of assigned projects that meet or exceed client (internal or external) expectations, are within the agreed budget, and are delivered on or ahead of schedule and with minimal risk to the health and safety of people and the environment.
- Plans, organises, coordinates and controls delivery and execution of civil engineering components of projects in accordance with KBR established policies, procedures and requirements.
- Prepare technically sound, well written and easily understood proposals, reports, technical specifications and calculations.
- Undertake reviews and verification of engineering calculations, reports and deliverables completed by others within the team.
- Leads delivery of design documentation and drawings completed by the project team.
- Supervise project staff and review deliverables to ensure compliance with technical and quality assurance standards.
- Provide direction, mentoring and support to bid teams and project staff.
- Develop and maintain client relationships and industry knowledge.
Additional Scope
- Identifies market opportunities and serves as a proposal manager for civil projects.
- Serves as a project manager for civil discipline projects for local government, state government, developers and builders.
- Maintains contact and communication with the client and focuses on providing client satisfaction where leading a civil infrastructure project.
- Demonstrates strong understanding of client needs and achieve a high level of satisfaction.
- Supervises and ensures the well-being of personnel assigned to the project through peer and/or subordinate leaders or direct management.
- Ensures projects are executed in accordance with KBR Integrated Management System and the Project Implementation Process through the use of the KBR Project Management Desk Manual.
- Demonstrates commitment to meeting the undertakings of KBR HSE and Quality Policies.
Reporting to the Discipline Manager (DM)
- Provision of leadership to the civil team, and working closely with the DM to achieve Group objectives
- Assists to manage the functional performance of the team.
- Establishes a substantial knowledge of KBR's national skill base and local external labour and skill base through networking and participation in industry functions and groups.
- Identifies and promotes staff training needs and career progression.
- Communicates staff issues, concerns or satisfaction to the DM.
- Assists the DM when conducting performance management sessions where required.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Chartered Engineer Australia
- Minimum of 18 years' experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge and experience working with Australian Standards
- Demonstrated ability to lead a design team of civil engineers and designers to deliver the civil discipline
- Strong practical knowledge of and commitment to health and safety
- Working knowledge of commercial arrangements and relationships
Important:
- CPEng, RPEQ, CEng (UK) or equivalent engineering competency
- Experience in team/discipline management
