Whilst fulfilling the core responsibilities of a Security and Community Safety Officer, this post at the University of Northampton places an emphasis on enhancing the student experience and delivering exceptional customer service and support. Whether students are studying, working, or living on campus, your post will be to ensure their environment is safe, welcoming, and supportive.
As a front-line representative, your ability to provide professional and approachable service is key. You'll support a range of activities beyond general security duties, including:

We are an accredited Living Wage Foundation Employer and currently pay the real living wage, which is currently £27,594 per annum (for 42 hours per week). In recognition of this, the starting salary for this post has been increased to pay this higher amount which currently supersedes the actual first spinal point of Grade 4 salary before living wage.
About you
Working in the higher education sector, we are looking for the applicant to have excellent customer service and communications skills, who approaches a variety of situations with flexibility, positivity, and proactivity.
While previous security experience is desirable, it is not essential as comprehensive on-the-job training for security in the Higher Education sector will be provided to candidates holding a valid SIA Door Supervisor licence.
We seek someone eager to learn, committed to personal growth, and passionate about contributing to the safety and well-being of our university community.
A driving lisence is essential for this post.

- Assisting with evidence retrieval
- Collaborating with the Residential Life Team to promote a safe living environment
- Residential Student Welbeing

- Water rescue
- Fire investigations
- First aid response
