We are currently looking for a Metallic Materials Expert (F/M/X) to join our team at Laborelec in Linkebeek, Brussels suburbs, Belgium.

About the Metallic Materials Team

Laborelec's Metallic Materials Team composed of 15 experts is specialized in solving metal-related issues encountered by nuclear, thermal and renewable power plants, and in development of metal expertise for new energy solutions. Our primary task is to boost power plant reliability by analyzing and preventing damage, determining the life span of critical components and analyzing failure cases in the field. This work is complemented with long-term research and innovation projects for evolving (renewable) energy businesses and technologies.

Your responsibilities as a Metallic Materials Expert include

As a metallic material expert, you will
  • Tackle metal degradation and ageing issues, gaining hands-on experience and deepening technical expertise.
  • Act as a technical consultant and project engineer, managing customer queries, inspections, lab analyses, and result interpretation.
  • Lead failure and root cause analyses, providing recommendations to enhance quality, reliability, and asset lifetime.
  • Continuously develop your expertise through on-the-job learning and targeted training.
  • Collaborate across Laborelec departments and engage directly with national and international clients.
  • Contribute to projects in nuclear, conventional, and renewable energy sectors, solving complex material challenges worldwide


You are flexible and are willing to travel to carry out work on-site, including in nuclear installations, with international trips of about a week.

Your profile as a Metallic Materials Expert (M/F/X):
  • Master's degree in materials, mechanical, or chemical engineering, with experience in material, root cause, and failure analysis.
  • Analytical mindset with an hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Passionate about technology, eager to learn, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborative team player who actively seeks solutions and thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Customer-oriented, creative, and self-organized, with a high sense of ethics and safety awareness.
  • Fluent in English, with a willingness to learn French and/or Dutc


Location

The position is based in Linkebeek, about 10 km from Brussels
