Emerson has an exciting opportunity for a creative thinker to lead our Material Engineering Team, located in Marshalltown, Iowa. The Manager, Materials Engineering is a member of the Global Technology Leadership Team and helps set the department's visions, goals, and performance targets. This role is responsible for the output of the highly engaged, research-based engineering support staff. In this role, the candidate will interface frequently with all departments of a global company and lead initiatives and strengthen collaborative relationships with both internal and external customers.

In this Role Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Manager capacity to ensure needs of internal customers are met in a timely fashion
  • Set Materials Engineering team strategy and lead a global team
  • Create a culture of safety ensuring team members are invested in and adhere to safe lab practices
  • Ensure high quality results are obtained and reported from engineering labs
  • Coordinate equipment needs with other lab users, facilities, or service technicians
  • Work closely with team members and internal customers to quote lead times, prioritize, and monitor tasks
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies into product designs and manufacturing processes
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams who require technical expertise
  • Develop and train a competent and motivated technical staff

For this Role You Will Need:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Management.
  • Clear, compelling, and concise written and verbal communicator.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead and develop team members in technical skills, lab analyses, and business acumen
  • 4+ years of experience in research, engineering, or operations

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
  • Degreed specialization in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or Polymer Science
  • 8+ years of experience in research, engineering, or operations
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
