We are looking for a PMO Director to provide strategic leadership and oversight for the entire Lifecycle Asset Replacement and Major Variations portfolio. You will lead the PMO team in the efficient and effective delivery of this large portfolio, developing strategies that empower Project Managers to meet key business objectives. This role requires a collaborative leader with strong technical skills to problem-solve within a TFM environment. As the primary liaison, you will be responsible for reporting comprehensive programme, progress, and financial status to both the client and internal stakeholders.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity that is home-based, offering flexibility. The successful candidate must be prepared for frequent national travel to cover the portfolio.

Core Responsibilities :
Strategic PMO Leadership and Governance
- Lead the Project Management Office (PMO), driving best practices, standards, and strategic oversight for all project works.
- Act as a central role model for project management excellence, ensuring all internal stakeholders adhere to technical and behavioral best practices.
- Maintain strict adherence to governance and compliance, including all relevant standards, regulations (e.g., CDM), and Health & Safety protocols across all deployed works.
- Establish and enforce cost approval governance to manage and track expenditures, intervening when items exceed the cost forecast.
Stakeholder Management and Communication
- Proactively lead and develop effective working relationships with key client and internal stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary liaison, ensuring deep understanding of Senior Client needs and clearly communicating internal delivery expectations and constraints back to the client.
- Ensure clarity on Programme status by communicating progress, risks, and true status effectively and transparently to all parties.
- Build and maintain mutually trusting relationships with key client stakeholders to foster collaboration and long-term partnership.
Planning, Reporting, and Financial Oversight
- Own Programme and budget reporting, providing timely, professional, and accurate documentation to relevant stakeholders for effective monitoring and control.
- Direct resource planning and capacity management to align internal teams with delivery requirements.
- Track forecasts and manage priorities to ensure critical business requirements are consistently met.
- Solve complex problems and influence strategic decisions regarding major project works based on extensive Programme knowledge and experience.
Business Growth and Vision
- Maintain an acute awareness of key business objectives for both specific project works and the wider contract scope.
- Proactively identify and pursue opportunities for project work growth, leveraging client relationships and strategic insights to drive further revenue for the company.
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience as a Senior Programme/Project Manager or Head of Projects, ideally within a Project Management Office (PMO) structure.
- People Management: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team of project professionals.
- Comprehensive, practical experience with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM).
- Direct, relevant experience working within a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) or similar Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework is highly desirable.
- Expertise in Budget Management, Cost Management, and Control, with a strong focus on maximising commercial outcomes.
- Demonstrable ability to integrate commercial thinking into project strategy, tracking profitability, and identifying risks and opportunities
- Extensive experience in a client-facing role, successfully managing expectations and delivering value for senior stakeholders.
- Highly developed communication, influencing, and motivational skills necessary to drive cross-functional team performance and secure stakeholder buy-in
- Experience implementing and monitoring quality assurance processes to maintain high standards of delivery.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the UK & Ireland as required to meet project demands and client needs.
