This Position reports to:
Department Manager of Power Electronics
As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your skills by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.
The work model for the role is onsite/hybrid in Raleigh, NC.

The hourly rate is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications, graduation year and experience. This position is expected to pay between $20 - $34 per hour.

You will be mainly accountable for:
- Collaborating with various teams to support ABB's operations, ensuring effective coordination and timely project completion within the defined timelines.
- Participate in research projects: (a) Understand the technical requirements and identify components for new designs (b) Plan, build, and adapt test circuits; and (c) Conduct laboratory tests, analyze data, and improve/optimize the solution
- Interact and actively communicate with other team members in the research organization and with suppliers of novel components for power converters and protection devices
- Deliver results in the form of numerical models and hardware demonstrations in support of new scientific knowledge and technical design recommendations, and internal technical reports and presentations
Qualifications for the role:
- Currently enrolled in a M.S. or PhD degree program in the US in Electrical Engineering Power Electronics or related fields (recent graduates will also be considered)
- Must be currently authorized to work for ABB in the US
- Specialized coursework and research/project work in power electronics
- Analogue and digital electronics schematic design and PCB debugging experience
- Printed circuit board design and assembly experience
- Embedded programming experience (C, C++, TI and ST micro MCUs, FPGAs)
- Experience with EMI/EMC modeling and testing
- Ability to learn quickly and work in teams
- Strong skills in effective communication and networking
