This Position reports to:
Research Team Manager - Power Electronic Systems

Your role and responsibilities:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.

The work model for the role is: #LI-Onsite

This role is contributing to Power Electronic Systems in Baden-Daettwil, Switzerland.

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Reviewing academic literature on grid-forming control methods
  • Benchmarking, evaluating, and documenting grid-forming control strategies proposed in academia and industry
  • Exploring transient stability analysis techniques applicable to grid-forming converter control
  • Quick prototyping of solutions through realistic high-power converter models


Qualifications for the role:
  • Currently pursuing a master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
  • Demonstrated interest and academic coursework in power electronics, control theory and power system analysis
  • Solid working knowledge of MATLAB is required
  • Experience with simulation software such as Simulink or PLECS is desirable
  • Keen interest in research and scientific publishing is a plus
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
