Job Description
This state income tax role will report to the State and Local Tax Leader and have frequent interactions with the broader tax organization including federal counterparts, the GE Aerospace Tax Ops team, and business partners across the GE Aerospace organization.
The candidate is expected to have a strong tax technical background and foundation in corporate state income taxes and a demonstrated interest in state and local taxes. Strong analytical, research, and communication skills are a must and experience in public accounting is preferred.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing direct state and local tax compliance and the process including preparation and filing of state and local tax returns for all applicable legal entities and supporting audits.
- Prepare state tax returns, forms, and reporting of operations by gathering financial data from business departments and divisions; analyze and incorporate data into returns; prepare work papers and support schedules and leverage professional tax software to process financial and tax data.
- Prepare state tax estimates on a quarterly basis and contribute to the cash forecasting process.
- Work as part of a broader team to complete the quarterly and annual state income tax provisions and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting per Accounting Standards Codification 740 (ASC 740).
- Partner with the tax controversy team by assisting with gathering information leading to issue resolutions within established timelines; working with management to respond to information requisitions; preparing data and reports to support state audit projects; and escalating potential exposure items to management.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations by keeping current on changes in tax law; research and provide analysis on impacts of federal legislative matters; and identify and develop needed system or process changes to remain compliant with tax laws.
- Manage tax consultants where necessary to provide technical advice and compliance assistance.
- Integrate new technologies to improve existing processes and influence tax compliance transformation by identifying and implementing tools that allow for continuous improvement and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in accounting.
- Master's degree or JD with focus in Tax preferred.
- Understanding of federal and state income tax laws.

- The base pay range for this position is $8 0,300.00 - 107,200.00 The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan.
