Instrument & Control Technicians - 3-Month Shutdown Project (Wales)
Location: Wales
Contract Duration: 3 Months (January - March 2026)
Hours: 60 hours per week (10 hours/day, 6 days/week)
Rate: All-inclusive daily rate (Inside IR35)
Start Date: January 2026
About the Role
Spencer Ogden is seeking experienced Instrument & Control (I&C) Technicians to support a major industrial shutdown project in Wales, commencing January 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing team involved in the pre-assembly, installation, and pre-commissioning of large industrial equipment. You'll work closely with mechanical, electrical, and fabrication teams to deliver a safe and efficient project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Perform installation, calibration, and testing of field instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, and level).
Install and terminate instrument cables, junction boxes, marshalling panels, and control systems.
Support loop checks, functional testing, and pre-commissioning of instrumentation and control systems.
Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and wiring schematics accurately.
Ensure full compliance with site safety standards and industry best practices.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure smooth project integration and completion.
Requirements
Qualified Instrumentation / I&C Technician (NVQ Level 3, ONC/HNC, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
Proven experience in industrial instrumentation installation or shutdown/turnaround projects.
18th Edition and/or Compex Ex01-Ex04 certification desirable.
Working knowledge of PLC/DCS systems and industrial control loops.
Valid ECS or CCNSG Safety Passport.
Strong focus on health, safety, and quality.
Willingness to work long hours and commit to the full project duration.
