The Chemical Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient execution of chemical programs, pump maintenance, and production optimization activities. This role involves daily coordination with field operations, contractors, and vendors to maintain chemical treatment integrity, manage new well POP (Put on Production) activities, and support environmental compliance.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

Daily Operations
  • Maintain and updatethe Down Pumps List; coordinate repairs with field teams or vendors as needed.
  • Attend and actively participate in COW and POP meetings.
  • Monitor chemical tracker for new submissions; relay data to contractors and clarify with FSA when required.
  • Track and verify capstring pressures for corrosion treatment compliance.
  • Respond to IOC callouts for chemical performance issues (e.g., emulsion, scale, paraffin, BS&W).

POP (Put on Production) Support
  • Scope out new POP locations prior to execution; provide permits on the day of POP.
  • Coordinate with all groups involved in POP (Flowback, I&E, etc.).
  • Install gas lift riser quills under pressure to avoid well blowdowns.
  • Update and deliver POP installation schedules to third-party suppliers; monitor POP chats for changes.

Chemical Program Management
  • Coordinate with chemical vendors to turn chemical pumps on/off as needed.
  • Perform chemical treatments for wells and equipment as required.
  • Check chemical pump rates; perform minor repairs (packing, suction valves, check valves).
  • Manage chemical inventory and coordinate with SSC and pump warehouse for parts and deliveries.
  • Mobilize chemical vendors for bad oil treatment, sampling, and bottle testing.

Safety & Compliance
  • Provide permits and EIP documentation as needed.
  • Conduct IHE for complex jobs or when field teams are unavailable.
  • Respond to spills, ensure reporting, and provide environmental teams with required data (SDS, locations).
  • Adhere to Pressure Pumping Standards for capstring flushes and high-pressure jobs.

Collaboration & Communication
  • Communicate with IPSM and Checkpoint on ongoing repairs; set up monthly pump maintenance reviews.
  • Assist the Chemical Advisor with onboarding and orientation of new third-party personnel.
  • Attend optimization and chemical asset review meetings.
  • Support field teams with pump repairs, line blowdowns, and other chemical-related tasks.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED is required
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong knowledge of chemical treatment programs and production operations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates of Applied Science degree in Petroleum Technology, Process Technology, or related technology.
  • Demonstrated Chevron Way Values.
  • Four plus years of operations experience in oil and gas or related petrochemical industries, including experience with regulations and the maintenance and testing requirements associated with related safety devices.
  • In-depth understanding of upstream facilities, including, but not limited to: separation, pumping, gathering, tankage, lact sales, metering, and compression.
  • Broad knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot and maintain major oil and gas production facility process systems, including mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and production equipment.
    • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), CMMS, and the ability to understand new software packages.
    • Capable of simultaneously performing multiple tasks with limited supervision.
    • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse team of coworkers, contractors, and internal and external customers.
    • Ability to manage time effectively and work with minimal supervision.

Relocation may be considered.

International Considerations:

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
