The Service Cost Specialist plays a key role in maintaining consistency and alignment across all global service costing activities and initiatives. This position is responsible for managing the service cost model—the core tool used for all service quotations—ensuring its accuracy, quality, and compliance with Vestas' standards.
As an expert in commercial cost management, the Service Cost Specialist helps improve cost prediction and contributes to projects that enhance costing processes, systems, and tools. The role requires a mix of technical knowledge and effective stakeholder management skills to ensure high-quality costing practices throughout the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the maintenance and update of the global service cost model, ensuring alignment and formal sign-off across functions and regions in accordance with established costing processes.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to enhance the service cost model and related tools (e.g., Precalc), implementing both top-down strategic improvements and bottom-up innovations.
- Prioritize, monitor, and support the integration of new product initiatives into cost prediction processes, based on their maturity and risk profile.
- Coordinate key stakeholder engagement-including VTO, DS, Service Operations, and Finance-to fulfill global cost management objectives.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives in systems, tools, and processes to enhance the quality and reliability of commercial cost forecasting.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in commercial costing across global strategic projects (e.g., OnePlan, Scalable Core) and cost-related decision-making forums.
- Consistently interface with regional service and operational teams to align commercial cost assumptions with field realities.
- Provide deal-specific costing support, including input on failure rate estimates, cost prediction accuracy, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate closely with the Onshore Pricing team to enhance synergies in tools, processes, and commercial support for the service business.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Industrial Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Experience in Operations & Maintenance (O&M) costing across the full lifecycle—from New Product Introduction (NPI) to commercial quoting and operational execution. Experience in the wind energy sector or similar will be positive for the role tasks.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency, with experience in cost modeling tools and data analysis.
- Knowledge: Good understanding of project and product management principles, cost modeling techniques, and predictive maintenance methodologies.
- Language: Proficient in written and spoken English.

- Ability to communicate complex topics clearly and concisely in English, both written and spoken.
