This Position reports to:
Design Manager

Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior FPGA Designer to join our team at ABB Oy, Drives unit in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing control parts of variable speed drives using VHDL and utilising FPGAs and SystemOnChip components. You will participate in system design of drive projects as well as system level verification within your own expertise area.

You will work in close collaboration with other teams including embedded software and control electronics design as well as system level verification. Each day you will showcase your expertise in solving interdisciplinary challenges serving several R&D projects.

The work model for the role is: hybrid #LI-Hybrid

Key responsibilities:

• Specification of FPGA based designs
• FPGA design using VHDL
• Verification and debugging of FPGA designs
• Participating in system level verification
• Contribution to improving design processes

Qualifications for the role:

• Several years of demonstrated experience in VHDL based design
• Excellent command of FPGA design tools and methods is essential
• Practical knowledge of applying SoC circuits
• Good understanding of embedded systems design including software and electronics is essential
• Experience of power electronic systems, variable speed drives as well as PCBA design and verification is an asset
• You are fluent in English, both written and spoken. Finnish skills considered as a plus
• M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in electronics, electrical engineering or other relevant area is essential
