JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary: As a Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing data integration solutions between NOV's oil and gas drilling data software systems and customer's back-office processes and systems. You will work closely with internal teams and external clients to understand their requirements, business processes, and software systems to provide technical support, and ensure seamless integration of data connections.

Combine architectural expertise with hands-on development-using Python, APIs, Power Query, SQL and similar to validate assumptions, build proof-of-concept (POC) integrations, and demonstrate end-to-end data workflows between customer systems and NOV's digital platforms.

This role bridges drilling domain knowledge, software integration, and customer engagement, ensuring that complex data systems-from rigsite acquisition to cloud analytics-work seamlessly together and deliver maximum customer value.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Work closely with internal teams and external clients to understand their digital strategy.
  • Taking on digital problems and owning them until a solution is available.
  • Designing and scoping solutions where required.
  • Suggest product changes to resolve common issues.
  • Communicating with internal teams and customers.
  • Documenting solutions and help guides.
  • Coding/scripting small-scale applications to solve problems, create solutions and improve customer experience.
  • Researching to find solutions to problems and working with 3rd parties where required.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Leadership:
    • Lead the design and implementation of data integration solutions for oil and gas drilling data systems.
    • Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership to internal/external teams and clients.
    • Lead technical workshops and solution design sessions with customer IT, drilling, and data engineering teams.
  2. Requirements Gathering:
    • Serve as the on-site technical liaison with clients and internal stakeholders to understand their business needs and technical requirements.
    • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and integration plans for product line and engineering.
    • Document system interfaces and data mappings in coordination with NOV product management and support teams."
  3. Solution Design:
    • Develop comprehensive integration strategies and architectures that ensure seamless data flow between disparate systems.
    • Design data models, schemas, and mappings to support data integration efforts.
    • Coding/scripting small-scale applications to solve problems, create solutions and improve customer experience.
  4. Implementation and Support:
    • Oversee the implementation of data integration solutions, ensuring they meet quality, performance, and security standards.
    • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for integration issues, both internally and for clients.
  5. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with product line and software development teams to ensure alignment between integration solutions and overall software architecture.
    • Collaborate with clients' IT teams to facilitate smooth secure integration processes.
    • Work closely with the customer which includes but not limited to drilling engineers, data scientist, completions & production, and IT.
  6. Documentation:
    • Create detailed documentation for integration solutions, including architecture diagrams, data flow diagrams, and technical specifications.
    • Maintain clear and version-controlled documentation for integration designs and operational processes.
  7. Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to data integration and the oil and gas sector.
    • Propose and implement improvements to existing integration processes and solutions.
    • Identify opportunities to standardize customer integrations into reusable frameworks or API templates.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience in creating small data applications.
  • Experience in energy data standards such as WITSML, and WITS0 is essential, and OPC UA is a plus.
  • Experience in coding/scripting solutions in Python, Power Query, C#, SQL, JavaScript & HTML and similar.
  • Proven experience as a Solutions Architect or similar role, with a focus on data integration, software systems, and data analytics.
  • Strong understanding of oil and gas drilling, drilling data systems, and industry-specific software.
  • Proficiency in data modeling, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and data integration tools.
  • Experience with developing code that utilizes APIs, web services, and middleware technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus.
