We are seeking a Sourcing Engineer (Electrical Engineer), with an opportunity to have a significant impact on the business contributing to Sustaining materials and New Product Development (NPD). This role, based Elyria, OH, will collaborate globally with Commodity Management Teams, Developmental Engineers, Suppliers and other Emerson professionals dedicated to revolutionizing industry! You'll apply project management, technology, supply chain principles, and build business strategies to add value in delivering energized products to our customers. Professional collaboration, agility, effective time-management, organization skills and project management fundamentals will assist you in your success.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Represent sourcing on NPD teams, advising on supplier selection, material processes, and supply chain risks throughout the product development cycle.
  • Own NPD purchased material BOMs, RFQ cycle (issuance, review, award), PPAP management, and supplier performance for pilot and launch phases.
  • Drive early supply chain design to align with best-value suppliers; manage component sourcing, substitutions, and secure materials for launch.
  • Ensure purchased materials meet approved supplier standards and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Manage sourcing for NPD and sustaining projects, including supplier selection, cost analysis, PPAP, and sourcing metrics.
  • Review designs for producibility and VA/VE opportunities.
  • Communicate supply chain updates, lead DFMA workshops, and support risk mitigation using tools like Silicon Experts.
  • Contribute to project status reports and lead cross-functional supply chain initiatives.
  • Prioritize goals to deliver products on time and meet program objectives.

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or Electrical / Electronic Technology and 5 years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability in project management methods. Relevant Co-op or intern experience will also be considered.
  • Results- and action-orientated mindset, with the ability to self-teach, assemble facts, information, and data to create actionable plans and hold stakeholders accountable.
  • Exposure to fundamental electrical, electronic, and mechanical manufacturing, PCBA fabrication, supply chain processes, quality processes (PPAP, Cause Corrective Action, Non-Conformance Reporting, SPC).
  • Demonstrated experience with BOM's, industry relevant material specifications (IPC, IEEE).
  • Ability to interpret and communicate test reports, quality assessment data of electronic components & assemblies, and other energized materials.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently, in oral and written forms to a wide spectrum of audience. Able to publicly address teams, plant personnel and suppliers conveying a range of information.
  • Fundamental business acumen of value, inflation, containment measure, cashflow and risk.
  • Ability to use MS Office products to present information / data effectively to stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • Firsthand experience with consumer and construction tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes concerning surface mount technologies, PCBA manufacturing and associated quality measures (FAT, EOL, AOI), injection molding, wiring harnesses, and electronic material assembly (Box Builds).
  • Knowledge and experience in leading component technical drawing reviews.
  • Knowledge and or direct experience of supply chain operations; RFQ, supplier selection / assessment / performance measurement, negotiation experience, supplier collaboration.
  • Able to manage expectations of others, able to say 'no' as business or project conditions are not met.
  • Knowledge of material testing processes and protocols.
  • Design or test lab experiences with energized materials and control systems.
  • Active participant in material cost reduction / containment measures.
