Overview

This role requires a fresh and innovative approach to decommissioning challenges through the identification of new technologies and novel approaches. As a senior leader, you will work closely with clients to understand problems and supervise our talented teams to deliver safe and cost-effective solutions. You will benefit from working with a large group of solution-based experts and have access to interesting and thought-provoking challenges.

As the Technical Director for the Decommissioning Market, you will be responsible for the technical delivery aspects of decommissioning projects. This includes developing and maintaining team capability within the various technical disciplines, providing independent technical governance and assurance to meet quality standards and comply with company processes, and ensuring technical risks are appropriately managed.

Reporting to the Decommissioning Market Director, you will be required to develop and maintain strong relationships with the Technical Leadership Group. This will involve working closely with other Technical Directors and Leaders from across Nuclear EMEA to shape a consistent technical strategy and supervise delivery of that strategy in the Decommissioning Market. You will be accountable to the Nuclear EMEA Technical Director for the consistent and compliant application of technical standards across the Decommissioning Market.

Your Role

  • Support the Decommissioning Market Director to achieve strategic goals.
  • Support the bidding and delivery of projects within the Decommissioning Market area as well as ensuring appropriate technical resource is allocated to the delivery of projects managed across the market.
  • Anticipate changes in technologies and guide the business direction and technical competence to ensure that the business is well positioned to exploit opportunities in these areas.
  • Working in concert with other Technical Directors, act as the 'point of contact' within the company for high level technical focus and 'Thought Leadership' around specific technologies and systems.
  • Provide clear leadership in the delivery of projects in line with company standards and industry best practice.
  • Ensure work within the team is undertaken with appropriate levels of governance and assurance.
  • Be able to collaborate with multiple clients to set and agree meaningful targets and objectives.
  • Deliver client expectations and drive towards a solution that has a positive impact upon shaping and influencing the client's business and the wider nuclear industry.
  • Consistently manage and support a range of assignments from bid stage through to delivery.
  • Supervise on the development of Early Careers within the Decommissioning team.
  • Be able to deliver technical solutions in the wider context of the industry. Shares knowledge through mentorship and coaching.
  • Be able to solve complex problems, identify root causes, share solutions and recognise the bigger picture, enhancing the capability of the wider business.
  • Be able to establish and apply the correct solutions, delivering novel solutions where appropriate.


About You

  • You'll need a strong understanding of the Nuclear decommissioning sector and specifically the services provided within it.
  • A proven track record of problem solving and innovative thinking which has led to improvement in client outcomes.
  • Technology focus and an ability to become a 'Thought Leader'.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary technical environments, in a range of nuclear modes and organisations.
  • Experienced in bidding, report writing, checking and approval of technical and commercial information.
  • Expert knowledge about your service sector. Be able to act as a Project Manager.
  • Commercially experienced, with a credible reputation in the industry, or demonstrable record of project success and an extensive network of contacts.
  • Should be able to deliver presentations to formal industry forums.
