The Power Systems Test Engineer will be responsible for aerospace electrical power generation systems test lifecycle from system test requirements, development, design, troubleshooting, verification, and validation. This role is located onsite in Vandalia, OH.

Our Vandalia facility is located 50 minutes north of the GE Aerospace headquarters and sits just north of the city of Dayton-known widely as the birthplace of aviation-where the Wright Brothers built the world's first aircraft in their bicycle shop in the heart of downtown Dayton. This business boasts a rich history, in operation for over 100 years. At over 140,000 square feet, the Vandalia facility rests on 27 acres right off Interstate 75.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for day-to-day support of final test operations including troubleshooting and repair of complex test systems.
  • Has the ability to use oscilloscopes, meters, and other hand tools to repair and build test equipment.
  • Responsible for design and construction of test facilities, instrumentation systems and the development of test software.
  • Provide the technical knowledge to rapidly prototype or modify test equipment to meet new requirements and test needs.
  • Responsible for managing small projects related to cost out and continuous improvement.
  • Proactively look for areas of improvement within the department.
  • Has technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve complex electrical problems.
  • Work cross functionally within a matrixed organization to solve problems outside your area of expertise.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited college or university.
  • Plus, a minimum of 3 years of engineering, scientific or other technical experience.

OR
  • Master's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited college or university.


Additional Information
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship status.
  • Ability and willingness to sit on-site at the GE Aerospace facility in Vandalia, OH.


Desired Characteristics
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an engineering position related to electrical power generation systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting background to the component level.
  • Experience with 480V electrical systems.
  • Experience with AC and DC motors and their drives.
  • Familiarity with power electronics, electric motors, and electric power conversion concepts.
  • Experience with high speed / high power motor and gearbox systems.
  • Prior work experience in aerospace power generation / conversion products.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skill.
  • Prior project management experience.
