Job Title: Trainer for Offshore Lifting and Crane Operations

Location: Worldwide

Mission
  • The trainer will be involved in all Offshore Training Centre Team duties and in particular will be dedicated to design, plan, organize and deliver all training and assessments for Saipem crane operators and tuggerhoist operator with the use of the crane simulator. The trainer will also be involved in the delivery of other technical trainings related to lifting operations onboard or in the onshore facilities.

Tasks
  • Design and customize the training materials based on Saipem needs, international standards, Saipem standards, best practices and client requirements
  • Deliver the training and conduct assessments in the Offshore Training Centre, onboard vessel and in the onshore facilities
  • Design and implement simulator scenarios for the virtual reality crane simulator according to Saipem needs
  • Ensure that the crane simulator in virtual reality is fully operational for the assessment and simulations
  • Act as subject expert matter of the simulator
  • Liaise with the simulator support team about trouble shoot and solve possible problems
  • Coach and assess the crane ops on site and on the crane simulator
  • Follow up the DNV certifications and relative audits for the level 3 crane operators' assessment and simulator + other DNV certified training
  • Report the training and assessments done in line with the management system of the training center
  • Liaise with the training centre administrator to maintain all the documentation and training records properly archived in the database

Requirements:

  • Previous experience: 10 years as an offshore crane operator and 5 years as trainer/assessor for offshore lifting operations
  • Crane instructor and assessor certification
  • Valid stage 3 offshore crane operator certificate in line with BS7121 part 11
  • Skills and knowledge relevant to offshore heavy lift installations. Preferably including: jacket installation + piles installation + hammering + top sides installations+ windfarm offshore installations
  • Experience in operating / managing the crane tuggers during complex installations
  • Skills and knowledge towards subsea lifts / installation with the use of the heave compensator
  • Basic training / knowledge about crane wire ropes
  • Proven knowledge about offshore international standards (BS7121 p11 , LOLER , PUWER etc.)
  • Proven knowledge and experience on different types of cranes and associated terminology ( knuckle , crawler , mobiles , pedestal , fixed etc.)
  • Knowledge about different local crane legislations - regulations and codes of practice (considered a plus)
  • Broad knowledge and understanding about crane stability, duty charts and safety devices
  • Broad knowledge about vessel stability and heavy lifts in combination with the vessel ballast system
  • Availability for missions abroad on offshore and onshore sites like vessels and yards
  • Knowledge and experience on crane simulator and virtual reality simulators
  • Proven knowledge and experience on lifting operation and relative trainings
  • Knowledge in scaffolding and scaffolding assessment is considered a plus
  • Knowledge in HSE trainings such as working at height and confined space entry (supervisor and rescue level) is considered a plus
