Human Resources- Develop and lead the execution of comprehensive EHS strategies aligned with Appleton Group's business objectives and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to elevate safety culture and performance across all sites, ensuring alignment with Emerson's corporate standards.
- Monitor, analyze, and report safety KPIs, trends, and performance metrics to executive leadership, providing actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations, proactively addressing risks and regulatory changes.
- Oversee environmental compliance programs, including hazardous waste management, air and water quality monitoring, and sustainability initiatives.
- Lead investigations of incidents, near-misses, and property damage; identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, leading responses to audits, inspections, and compliance inquiries.
- Support capital projects by integrating safety planning and risk mitigation strategies throughout project lifecycles.
- Champion employee safety training programs and behavioral safety initiatives, fostering engagement and accountability.
- Coordinate and facilitate all required safety and health training, ensuring consistency and effectiveness across all locations.
- Build strong partnerships with operations leaders and employees to promote a culture of safety, ownership, and discipline.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive EHS leadership experience in a manufacturing environment at a senior level.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations.
- Proven ability to lead change, influence culture, and drive EHS performance.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
- Planning and prioritization - manage multiple projects and activities.
- Willingness and ability to travel, up to 50% each year
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
