Job Description:

Role Synopsis

We are seeking a highly motivated, self-starting optimizer with a growth mindset and a track record of extraordinary delivery in a dynamic work environment. You will work directly with operations personnel to tackle problems through data insights and develop holistic solutions to optimize gas lift and plunger lift well set.

Key Accountabilities

  • Monitor and analyze production data from wells using digital tools (e.g., PI Vision, Power BI, Palantir Foundry, AVEVA PI) to identify underperforming assets and optimization opportunities.
  • Perform remote setpoint adjustments to optimize production, such as:
  • Auto choke controls
  • ESP (electric submersible pumps)
  • Gas lift injection rates
  • Plunger lift systems
  • Compressor settings - to optimize production rates, minimize downtime, and maintain well uptime.
  • Collaborate with field operations, engineering, and centralized teams to troubleshoot issues, develop data-driven strategies, and implement holistic improvements for well sets (e.g., gas lift or plunger lift optimization).
  • Contribute to innovation in optimization tools and workflows, incorporating data science, AI insights, and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce methane emissions and enhance overall asset performance.
  • Support cross-functional goals such as increasing production volumes while lowering operational costs and environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to identify widespread issues and build a data-centric strategy to address them.
  • Develop descriptive analytics to identify trends from operational data and create business value.
  • Systematically improve business value through descriptive and diagnostic analytics performed on operations data (HSE, Production, and LOE).
  • Be willing to travel to the field approximately 80% of the time to meet with key partners, understand common issues, and build relationships.

Essential Experience and Education

  • 7+ years in oil & gas operations, artificial lift, and field tech roles preferred.
  • Strong background in petroleum engineering, production operations, or related fields.
  • Extensive well optimization experience, including proven optimization strategies.
  • Echo meter experience and downhole troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with artificial lift methods (gas lift, ESP, plunger, rod pump) and shale/tight gas operations.
  • Proficiency with real-time data historian systems (e.g., OSIsoft PI / AVEVA PI), visualization tools (PI Vision, Power BI), and digital optimization platforms.
  • Experience pulling data using SQL queries and understanding SQL database architecture.
  • Background in data visualization, with experience in Power BI and Power Apps.
  • Analytical mindset with experience in data interpretation, root-cause analysis, and remote operations in onshore unconventional plays.
  • Growth-oriented, self-starting attitude with a track record of delivering results in dynamic, high-intensity environments.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with field personnel and leadership.
  • Understanding of the oil and gas industry.
  • Proven experience using statistical analysis to solve problems.
  • Empathetic and asset-focused when crafting visualization tools: effective listener who develops intuitive dashboards that generate clear business value.
  • Effective communicator across all levels of the organization.
  • Growth mindset: proven ability to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Echo meter experience and downhole troubleshooting.
  • Extensive well optimization experience, including proven optimization strategies.
  • Ability to partner with Production Technicians to build skillsets across the organization.
  • Background in data visualization, with experience in Power BI and Power Apps.
  • Experience pulling data using SQL queries and a fundamental understanding of SQL database architecture.
