The Market Data Business Analyst will report directly to the ST&S Global Manager for Market Data and play a key role in delivering comprehensive business analysis across all aspects of market data at bp. This role will focus on understanding business requirements, optimizing data processes, and supporting strategic initiatives to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective market data solutions.

The Market Data Business Analyst will report directly to the ST&S Global Manager for Market Data and play a key role in delivering comprehensive business analysis across all aspects of market data at bp. This role will focus on understanding business requirements, optimizing data processes, and supporting strategic initiatives to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective market data solutions.
Key Accountabilities
- Review of product/service requests from the business to ensure suitability, consistency and cost effectiveness.
- Data sourcing recommendations
- Analysis of Market Data Pricing & Reference data-feeds, processes and enterprise data management
- Understanding of data challenges: global differences, cross asset vendor identifiers, legal entity data, file formats, usage rights and compliance.
- Analysis and updates with respect to Rights Policies pertaining to Exchanges/Trading Venues.
- Create strong Business and vendor partnerships
- Onsite visits across the BP Group liaising with all business users
- Providing data cost optimization for users on demand to assist in cost management challenges
- Full understanding of realtime and non-realtime market data systems, services and data.
- Entitlements and permissioning systems knowledge
- Appreciation of technical delivery systems used for Market Data, both real time and non-real time.
- Product comparative/gap analysis
- Product and service knowledge of all the major Market Data vendors
- Experience of presenting MD financials/spend and reporting
- You will partner across all levels of seniority within the BP Group to deliver value and consistency
- Understanding of all execution platforms related to Commodities Trading
Essential Criteria & Qualifications
- Business Analysis experience within Market Data preferred
- Demonstrable commercial experience
- Ability to lead global business use of market data and define, implement and deliver global market data compliance strategy
- Display consistent track record of liaising with colleagues at all levels across IT and the Business.
- Possess excellent product and market knowledge.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to articulate and negotiate priorities with business users and IT teams, as well as with vendors
- Strong analytical & problem solving skills.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic and proven rapid learning capability
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Full understanding of the regulatory and compliance requirements for Market Data
- Strong focus on continuous strategic implementation and delivery, stakeholder and vendor management.
- Understand the use and constraints of AI relating to Market Data
