JOB DESCRIPTION
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Following supervisor instructions to prepare wind tower sections for fabrication operations, set up, and operate the sub-arc welder
Welding, grinding, and repairing wind tower sections before presenting them to Quality Inspectors; repairing all seaming defects as directed
Working primarily independently, with essential tools and welding equipment provided; employee is responsible for maintaining and being accountable for tools and equipment
Ensuring timely and efficient work to deliver a quality product without manufacturing defects
Performing additional duties as directed by leadership and management
Actively participating in department safety and demonstrating excellent safety practices and behaviors in compliance with all safety policies and procedures
Completing other work-related tasks as assigned
FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
To carry out all duties in accordance with the Quality Assurance procedures and departmental works instructions.
To contribute to general improvements in the quality of key activities within the department.
Comply with all Keystone Tower Systems Company and HSE procedures and policies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent
Successful completion of an AWS welder qualification test and the ability to use sub-arc welding equipment without difficulty
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment and/or at least 1 year of fabrication experience (preferred)
Graduation certificate from an accredited trade school (preferred)
American Welding Society (AWS) welding certification (preferred)
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Attention to detail
Knowledge of welding properties for a variety of metals and alloys
Thorough understanding of welding procedures and practices, including the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and work with standard U.S. and Metric measurements
Ability to identify and communicate production or maintenance problems to departmental supervision
A highly motivated, passionate approach to their craft, possessing integrity and drive to excel and deliver exceptional results in a team-oriented production environment
