JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is recruiting for an experienced Health & Safety Superintendent to lead our clients Health, Environmental & Safety Team across their onshore and offshore operations in Equatorial Guinea.

This critical leadership role ensures the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance, driving compliance with corporate standards and industry best practices.

Required to provide expert guidance to management, oversee the implementation of our Operations Management System (OMS), and champion continuous improvement initiatives.

Location: Equatorial Guinea, office-based with 10-15% field presence (including offshore).

Rotation Work Pattern: 4 weeks on 4 weeks off, 7-day week 10-12 hour day

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the H&S and Training teams, ensuring consistent safety practices across all sites.
  • Implement and maintain OMS elements related to HES, including risk management, emergency preparedness, and contractor safety.
  • Serve as the senior HES advisor to management, ensuring compliance with local regulations and international standards.
  • Oversee HES training programs and maintain accurate training records.
  • Drive safety leadership initiatives, including field engagements and Safety Stand Downs.
  • Manage event reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with the medical team on case management and classification.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and contractors to ensure alignment with HES expectations.
  • Support emergency response planning and drills for onshore and offshore operations.
  • Support with implementing and maintaining Process Safety in offshore and onshore process facilities.
  • Support in establishing environmental practices to reduce spills and greenhouse gas emissions.


QUALIFICATIONS

Essential requirements for this role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma, Certified Safety Professional).
  • Several years of safety experience in the oil and gas processing industry.
  • A number of years previous experience in a supervisory role.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Preferred:
  • Master's in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Certification in Process Safety and Environmental
  • Spanish language skills.
