If, like us, you strongly believe the energy transition holds opportunities for you and for everyone, then look no further, you belong with us! Our goal is to be the best energy transition utility, and we have an ambition to reach net zero emissions by 2045. In Australia, this includes flexible power generation, energy retail services for homes and businesses, advanced energy management solutions, and a growing portfolio of future-focused projects - from hydrogen and battery storage to wind and solar developments.

ENGIE is seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team and support the legal function across a broad range of strategic and operational matters. You'll be joining an established and high regarded legal team with a proven track record of excellence. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the energy transition while working on high-impact projects in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment.

This includes acquisitions, joint ventures, greenfield developments, project financing, commercial contracts, dispute resolution, compliance, and governance.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide strategic and pragmatic legal advice to internal stakeholders across projects, operational matters, and corporate functions (e.g. HR, tax, treasury, finance, company secretarial)
• Draft, negotiate, and review commercial agreements including land tenure, power purchase and offtake, procurement, confidentiality, and operational contracts
• Advise on governance, shareholder arrangements, joint ventures, and board-related matters
• Manage litigation and dispute resolution processes, ensuring risks are identified and mitigated
• Support contract lifecycle management and contribute to the development of legal policies, procedures, and systems that improve efficiency and reduce risk
• Promote legal awareness and compliance across the business, including ethics, regulatory obligations, and internal approval workflows
• Oversee the effective use of external legal counsel to ensure value and alignment with ENGIE's standards
• Promote and adhere to ENGIE's Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) policies, contributing to a safe and responsible workplace culture

About You

You're a proactive legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is ready to take ownership of complex matters. You bring a commercial mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and a passion for contributing to a sustainable future.

Qualifications
• Bachelor of Laws and/or Juris Doctor
• Admission to practice in Australia
• Current unrestricted practising certificate

Skills & Attributes
• Strong commercial legal acumen, ideally gained in a top-tier firm or corporate environment
• Exposure to energy markets, M&A, or renewable project development is highly valued
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes
• A pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset with strong stakeholder engagement skills
• Confidence working autonomously while knowing when to escalate
