NOV is seeking a temporary Tax Accountant to join our Finance team in Africa (Cape Town). This role is well suited to qualified Chartered Accountants who have completed their articles, as well as professionals with solid tax accounting exposure, and offers the opportunity to work across multiple jurisdictions within a dynamic, multinational environment.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Support corporate tax accounting and compliance activities across Africa.
• Review statutory tax returns, including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, WHT, and Stamp Duty.
• Prepare and review quarterly and annual tax provision calculations for US GAAP reporting (FIN48, FAS5).
• Review annual tax webforms for US GAAP reporting (TQFAS109).
• Support SOX reporting and assist in maintaining strong tax control processes.
• Partner with local and central finance teams to strengthen tax-related internal controls.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and local statutory requirements.
• Maintain standardized balance sheet tax account reconciliation processes.
• Liaise with external advisors and service providers where required.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications:

• BCom Degree or similar.
• Qualified Chartered Accountants (CA(SA) or equivalent) who have completed their articles will be considered.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in tax accounting, financial accounting, or tax compliance.
• Exposure to African tax environments is essential.
• Experience within a multinational organization is advantageous.

Skills & Competencies:

• Sound understanding of direct and indirect taxes (Corporate Tax, VAT, WHT, Stamp Duty, etc.).
• Strong accounting foundation with the ability to apply tax concepts in practice.
• Ability to work effectively with finance teams across multiple countries.
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Proactive, self-driven, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
